    Check your power line connections

You think since you permanently installed the unit that the last thing you need to worry about is the wiring connection.

    Check your power line connections

OK, here's the story. About three weeks ago the power went out. No problem, I went and started up the MEP-002A which is hardwired into the breaker box through a mechanical switch-over box. Generator is running great. Go and throw the main switch to generator power and lights come on. Now the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I replaced all my brakes lines with stainless steel when I first bought the truck from the government. Added Dot 5 brake fluid and have not had a problem with them in 20 years.

Hey Chris, do you have the part number for the stronger bearing ? Thanks.

3kW 28V external auxiliary power unit from an Abrams

What engines do they have ?

    new injectors and fdc bypassed

A thicker gear oil will help that sound. Floridianson is right. You should run a good 50W gear oil. I once had a 4X4 that sounded like a thrashing machine on the highway. After tearing down the transfer-case several times and finding nothing wrong, I finally ended up running 140W gear oil in it...

    Finally bought a MEP-831a

Now all that is required is a little "elbow grease" !!! So get after those valves ! Oh, and when you get your engine running a little video would be great !

    Are my tires mounted backwards?

Honestly we don't know what direction the military had them going originally, so it would not make much difference now.

    Generator/TM list?

I average about 20% duds and 50% great and 30% alright I guess. Most of the "alright I guess" stuff is things like a 5 ton dump truck ram (NOS) and a air-compressor (NOS) that needs a 20 HP engine to run it. Someday I will get a small "Onan" connected to the air-compressor and boy will I have...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

What he said !!!! Also Dot 3 has an affinity for water, meaning it will absorb it and allow rust to form in your system. Dot 5 repels water, and also lubricates the rubber parts like the seals ! I see I should have read all the posts before replying. Someoldmoose already said what I just said .

    Finally bought a MEP-831a

In all honesty, get some good lapping compound and go after them. The seats don't look bad at all, and a little lapping will bring them right up to spec !

    Finally bought a MEP-831a

That part about lapping is not correct. Lapping is the oldest way to get a true positive seal between the valve and seat. Also most all production valve seats are made with "powder metallurgy" . This allows the manufacturer to precisely match their valves and seats with the head material used...

    Generator/TM list?

I forgot to say that your list of "Power Plants" and "Power Units" would be a great idea !

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yes, he has turned out OK. I was a little afraid having a son so late in life. I couldn't get out and play ball with him and things like that due to all my injuries but he has taken to other hobbies like his computer. He is also really looking forward to our trip to Alaska.

Are you asking me that ? I just used flat black paint.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

That's funny ! Yes the window is still out. The new window came in to day, so tomorrow I'll be prepping the window area. Removing the rust and applying a rust encapsulater . That ride was a long one due to the heavy traffic around here. Having the rear window gone allowed some cool air to get...

    Air wipers are not working

See, I knew it was that silly switch ! OK it wasn't gummed up, but that switch is the cause of a lot of wiper problems.

    Finally bought a MEP-831a

You can "lap" the valve to the seat with Lapping compound, or you can take the engine to a small engine repair place and they can use a seat grinder on them. Those valves of yours probably can be saved. If you take it to a shop they can determine if the valves can take a grinding or not. As far...

Are you implying that you have a parts source for this "Wisconsin Robin" engine ? If so tell us !
