How long will the M35 remain in service?

Out of all of the M35A3s that have been released over the last few years, I can only remember one truck that was truly in rough shape. If they are just integrating the A3s into the Reserve and National Guard units, why are such cherry trucks coming out? The trucks that came out of PA recently...

How long will the M35 remain in service?

Take this for what it is worth...a rumor from a fairly well placed source...but I heard from the same guy that told me about the M35s and related variants being out of the system by early next year, that all of the M809 series trucks will be out of the system by early 2010. I suspect that...

    Ladders Ladders Ladders!

I just got mine. Eric is a great guy to deal with and I am VERY happy with the ladder I got. It was just as he described.

    Looking to buy

Check with HALFTRACK (Jason)...he's got all kinds of stuff and, if he does not have it, he may know who you should check with. He lives near New Orleans.

How long will the M35 remain in service?

The only unknown factor in the equation is how quickly DRMS/GL can liquidate the trucks. Just based on the volume of trucks coming out so far this year, and also based on things such as the last poster's info, I'd say the end is near.

    Deuce off road shortcomings

Mike: The larger tires that some guys are putting on their trucks might help your cause a bit. I am not familiar with their use so I can't offer an opinion. Perhaps, JWALLER and RIZZO (among others) can chime in with some of their experiences. I think I've heard of guys running 1400s on a...

Maybe a new deuce owner, need advice....

The bullet hole might have been self-inflicted. I once owned a HMMWV that had two bullet holes through the floorboard on the passenger side that looked consistent with an M16 round...or so a friend that does ballistic testing for the military told me.

Pulling an m270a1 trailer Ft. Bragg to Central KY

I don't believe you'll find a commercial trucker who is willing to pull/tow the trailer home for insurance reasons. I have asked and been told just this. You will probably have to get it loaded onto a trailer to get it home. Now, if you can find a guy with an M818 or M52, they might be...

    Deuce off road shortcomings

Mike: The truck you are looking at has 1100 X 20 Michelin XLs so, right off the bat, you are ahead of most other deuce owners when it comes to off-road capabilities.

    30 to 35 duces

I am guessing the guy bought them as scrap. Apparently, it is easier for the govt to rid itself of scrap than by selling the trucks individually. I will add that I believe, if trucks are sold as scrap, they have to be scrapped. In other words, if these trucks were sold to this dealer as...

    Deuce off road shortcomings

FREIGHTTRAIN has already hit on what I would have said...width and turning radius. Plus, with no power steering, it is difficult to turn the steering wheel when you are in tight and are not moving.

How long will the M35 remain in service?

The first sentence should have read "...early next year."

How long will the M35 remain in service?

I have been told that ALL M35A2s will be out of the system by early year. By the numbers flowing out this year so far, that may not be far off the mark. I would be shocked if there are any M35A2s or related variants in the system in five years, with the possible exception of the A3s. However...

    M917 have CTIS?

CRASH_AF: He is referring to the Freightliner trucks, I believe, NOT the BMY produced M939A2 series trucks.

    Auction process worked for me!!

1stdeuce: If you sleep with the devil, you are bound to get burned. Keep dealing with GL and you will definitely get screwed in some manner. For every one person such as yourself that has had a great GL experience, there are dozens that have had terrible experiences. Good luck with your...

    Tire question

I would bet those tires are Michelins, not Firestones. I've never seen a Firestone produced XL tire. The tires are non-directional, but I always mount mine so they are facing the "correct" way.

    M1009 with 100,000+

Most of these trucks have more mileage that we want to believe. Don't ever trust the odometer. There are more important indicators of wear than mileage or hours. Check the seats, the brake pedal, the door hinges, how the truck runs, the condition of the exhaust, etc. I had an M1028 with only...

    M62A2, what engine?

RE: M62A2 JATONKA: I had an M543A2 that whistled pretty well. I don't want to say that it whistled like a deuce with a C motor, but it definitely whistled more than a deuce with a D motor. By the way, above I said the motor was an LDS4651C, I meant to say "1A" as JATONKA has correctly...
