That is about the only thing that would do it. Under normal operation, that button never leaves the cam piston. The plunger spring keeps constant pressure on it. So if the plunger sticks or gets sticky and allows the button to loose contact with the piston it could fall off.
I have come up with a new theory as to why we loose the clips. When the deuce is allowed to set for long periods the old diesel fuel gets gummy and causes the plunger to stick in the bore. Then when you go to start it up, the first time the plunger hits the top of it's bore it sticks and looses...
Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I was off line for a few days. The 12 point bolts are a stronger replacement for the older 6 point bolts. The torque should still be the same though.
Yes. Replace all the hose's. I replaced mine with Stainless Steel wrapped Teflon hose. The shop charges me about $20.00 each. These hoses will last my lifetime and that of my sons.

This time I talked with my best friend who also is a master mechanic (we both went to trade school together and...

Do you have some kind of "prefiltering" of your oil ? Like it goes through a filter into a 55 gallon drum, then gets pumped into your fuel tank ? I was thinking about doing something like that for mine. I have...
To bad they did not build them like MAN built their bus frames. They used "box" channel framing and coated the insides and then filled them with some kind of "expanding" foam. You where "never" to cut or weld or drill on their frames without proper clearance from MAN. Those crazy frames lasted...
Sounds like your "power" piston (I don't remember it's technical name right now) seals are leaking. That is the small piston that "pushes" the air valve open. That allows the large boost piston to apply. If the seals here leak, it will send brake fluid out the air bleed line which used to go to...
Now that is a great idea !
Hey, just an aside here. I'm getting sacked from this site soon due to doghead not liking my comments or me personally. Go to the CUCV section and look at the thread "bolt on box framing". Go to the last two pages. So I would just like to say your a great bunch of...
