    What model Genset is this?

Old fuel will turn into a substance that make stale gas look like Mister Kleen! It is NASTY!!! You will find that almost anything you use to clean it will make it even tackier. I have found the Xylene is about the only thing that cuts it, Xylene and a stiff bristle brush, heavy rubber gloves, a...

    M1009 Damage Assesment

The front bumper has been pushed back into the right front fender. It is still there, that in turn has pushed the fender back. Not a big deal, chain the bumper to a tree and slowly back up, bumper fixed. Loosen all of the fender mounting bolts along the top of the fender and under the front and...

    Upgrade complete

Found them, Not exactly sure how or if I can do it again but at least I know they are still in there somewhere. The color combo's are still very hard to see, That has been a complaint of mine for years. Rick

    Oskosh snow plow

I like the one with the muffler mounted to the roof. Less exhaust noise but that thing must have vibrated your teeth out! Unless it was rubber mounted. Rick

    Out of Fuel

I am confused. You have one post and you start out with a poll asking how long we have been on here. You also mention you ran out of fuel but you have pressure at the filter. Do you have return flow through the return line? Plus all the things Hans asked. I am wondering if this is a real post or...

    Driveshaft Removal in the Field

Keep in mind that the 10 day pick up is 10 BUSINESS days. No weekends or holidays. A lot of the time you can get an extension although I would not recommend it because that is just longer for others to pick over your vehicle. It also does not include days that they do not schedule pick ups so...

    M1009 Damage Assesment

Is there any damage on the front? It would not take much of a bump to push the brush guard into the fender and that moves the fender back just a hair and then someone opens the door which now does not have room and what you see is the end result. Rick

    Site downtime - this sunday!

I just get power back and now the site is going down. Oh well, I am used to sitting in the dark staring at the fire by now. Rick

    Generator prices

I wish I lived closer to you. I saw your post on the needed recovery and the bit about the trailers. I would say buy them on trailers and I would pull them to your house where you could remove the generator and I would take the trailer away for you. Rick

    Help with Death Shake/Wobble

It is a fairly common problem and there are a lot of aftermarket solutions for it out there. Not really too bad of a job if you have decent welding skills or a good welding shop. The aftermarket plates are designed to form fit and weld in the critical areas. If you do not see the cracks with the...

    Roller lifters?

If you look at a lot of the old antique diesel and gas hit or miss engines they mostly used roller lifters. They are not a new concept that is for sure. Rick

    Help with Death Shake/Wobble

Check the frame around the steering box bolts for cracks, very common problem. Spring bushings bad can also cause it. Rick

real new to diesels motor question

They are all the same, It is a solvent. Do not use the vacuum line on your diesel or you will wipe out the vacuum pump, diesel engines do not produce vacuum. All of these suggestions are going on the assumption that you have a sticky lifter. Try this first but if it does not work do not be...

    Dana 44 swap, M1010

A Dana 44F is a Dana 44 carrier in a Dana 44 housing. It is a Dana 44 front, high pinion differential usually used in 78-79 Ford F250. Myself and many others have wheeled 44 fronts with 40 inch tires for years without destroying them. It is a matter of knowing how to drive. I have a 76 CJ-7 with...

    Dana 44 swap, M1010

Bill, I will go to bat for you. While I do agree with everyone about it being a downgrade it will be plenty strong as long as you do not overload it. Ford and Chevy both used the Dana 44 as a front in 3/4 ton applications at one time or another. I had one in a Ford 250 That had 40's on it and I...

real new to diesels motor question

Although I am not a big fan of additives I have seen Marvel Mystery Oil loosen up stuck lifters. This may not be your problem but it can't hurt to throw some in the oil and see what happens. Change the oil and filter at the same time, could be dirty oil. Rick
