No help needed with M109 Restore..

Well I had a little setback today in finishing the floor in the box. It had been raining on and off all day. There is a bad leak in the patched-over opening in the roof above the center of the box. There must have been a vent there at one time that was removed and covered over with sheet...

    Flip the PTO?

My M820A2 has a rear facing Hydraulic pump that runs the liftgate. It is PTO operated. I will have to take some pictures of it for you guys. How about another option? What about a 24 volt hydraulic pump? My ISUZU NPR truck had a hydraulic liftgate that used a 12 volt hydraulic pump to...

You have a good point if I were making a camper out of her. Since I am not converting it to a camper yet I don't see any reason to reinsulate the box yet. The floor was a necessity so I decided to tackle it ASAP. I decided to repair it the proper way instead of taking short cuts and having to...

For rust I recommend Chassis Saver paint. It is a rust neutralizer and surface protector. All you do is scrape or brush off the lose rust and paint the Chassis Saver over the rust. This stuff is amazing! It has a tough surface when dry. You can also paint over it! (It is so adherent that...

I have used it before and with good results. It seems to cover over rust really well because it goes on thick. You should see how much solids it has when you buy it in gallon cans! However it works well for me on all metal surfaces.

Well I took her out for a drive to Home Depot today to pick up the plywood and supplies I needed to finish installing my flooring in the box. Picked up 3 sheets of 3/4" pressure treated plywood, 3 sheets of 1/4" exterior grade plywood some screws and a roll of window tape. I installed the...

Update on the box floor repair! I went out this morning and installed new foam weatherstripping to the threshold I built this week. I adjusted the metal trim piece I installed yesterday so that the back doors close properly. I started to work on the patch pieces that I will use to repair...

Dave, Thanks for the encouragement. It is appreciated! [thumbzup][thumbzup] I was busy coating all the rusted metal cross members and wall angles with Chassis Saver. I left it overnight to dry properly. Today I spent half the day fabricating and installing replacement threshold and...

I guess it is just part of the fun restoring an old vehicle to good usable condition. Gives you a chance to use your skills to fix something that is broken. There is a lot of satisfaction in seeing the fruits of your labor. Even better when your peers compliment you on your efforts! :grd:

    M927 or Ma-deuce

M35 would be easier to drive and use less fuel. M927 has power Steering and I think Auto transmission. Harder to make turns in a M927 because of long wheel base. 5 ton will carry more as well.

Thank you for the picture. It will help if I need to know what is inside the walls without opening them. ZOUT and I figured out a way to reattach the outside rails without drilling the holes in the interior walls. I am gonna get a dental tool that has a 90 degree hook on the end and use it...

I got the M814 home. Now what?

Think about installing a coolant filter system. You can install a T where the heater hoses are connected to the engine with a separate shut off for each line. These filter housings and filters are available at NAPA. THe filter will capture any rust and particles that may clog the radiator.
