Fluid level is OK and the fluid is not burnt. Either your pump is bad or your seals are toast. You can check the transmissions pressure for a bad pump, but really either way you need a total rebuild. You can replace the filter, and if your living right it might be the problem but I wouldn't...
I forgot to add that if we where going to race our trucks then we would absolutely go by the turbo map. But since we don't really need to worry about "spooling speed" and turbo ratio (exhaust flow to air intake flow) and other minutia we can get by with "pretty close" . Plus we are not using the...
You can spend some quality time here if you want to make absolutely sure, but according to Alexander this turbo would work fine here. Pretty much the same factory RPM range and CFM needed and with the adjustable wastegate no need to worry about blowing off the heads ...
I installed that 472 Cadillac engine in my second M1008 CUCV. The neighbor kid drove me crazy trying to buy it so I finally caved. Wished I had just kept it as he raced the poor thing to death ! It was extremely fast with that big Caddy engine !
Actually using a good synthetic will increase the life of your generator. I lived off grid for 12 years and went through a ton of generators during that time. We had the generator run 16 hours a day to keep the refrigerators running well and also for the well pump. When I switched to using the...
The Borg Warner kit number for the "D" turbo is 194397 and it has been replaced with number 318368.
Now according to the manager at Hatton Marine Engines the "GT-37" series turbo used in the International 7.3 (Fords) will fit just fine in our trucks. With the internal wastegate it can be easily...
This was the outfit I was getting information from. I called them today and they do not have the kits on hand but can order them in. They are made in the UK.
I found out some interesting information today. I was rebuilding my "C" turbo, I have to replace my "D" turbo until I find some rebuild parts for it. Well the impeller is a NO-GO !!!! It looks like the previous owner sucked a valve or something through it. There are little chunks out of the...
Boy, I must have been out of it last night ! I thought I read intake and exhaust manifolds. I spent over a hour and a half looking at the parts manuals ! Part of the problem is I only read what was posted new that day and sometimes the context gets lost. Thanks Gerhard for correcting that. As...
That's why I always use "Anti-Seize" on my bolts when the other part is aluminum. That way there is no corrosion and the bolt will not seize to the aluminum. On a lot of newer alternators they install a steel insert on the mounting ear to prevent this from happening.
OK, you got me confused here. The M35A3 has a "Caterpillar" engine. How did you use it's manifolds on a multifuel engine ?
Also the intake and exhaust manifolds are the same on the 2.5 ton and 5 ton multifuel engine. Are they not ? Not ever owning a 5 ton multifuel engine I cannot say for sure...
What is it that makes them suck ? Are they not sealing ? From what I've read, a number of people have used these pistons and rings and had good results. In the next few years I plan on rebuilding a Multifuel for a spare and it seems these are the only pistons available now.
The wiper motors on these model year trucks had a lot of problems. One being the sprayer pumps. At least yours works ! I'll turn mine on and a few minutes later it will start spraying !
I totally agree with you about shops not wanting to touch this pump. They are not trained on making the adjustments or even know what the adjustments are for. In the last few classes I had on some of the newer pumps, they never even mentioned the adjustments since the computer does all the work...
But that transmissions don't suck power I disagree with. I think we can agree on that there's a noticeable difference between flywheel and rear wheel horsepower.
Are you saying that only the the transfer case (if applicable), driveshafts(s), and rear differential are responsible for the power...
I appreciate your good wishes ! I am feeling better now. For the last two weeks it was pretty rough though. The TH400 is one of the best automatics ever made and the statistics back this claim up. Just check "ATRA" (automatic transmission repair association) for the most dependable automatic of...
The transmission doesn't suck power from the engine. In fact the 4L80E is just the TH400 with a overdrive in it. Far superior then the weaker 700R4 or 4L60E as it is called today. If you have the wrong torque converter that can cause a lot of problems though. If it was made for a car that was...
