The most precise part will be the bronze bushings and possibly the spacers. The seals should be of a standard size and we should be able to buy them from any competent turbo repair shop. If the "impeller" or shaft is made then the unit is toast as there is no way to manufacture a new one without...
The problem with "J&H Diesel" is they only stock NOS parts for the "C" turbo. Like I said there is no one making new parts for our turbos. I called about 3 months ago about a rebuild kit for my "D" turbo and they had nothing. So once all the NOS parts for the "C" turbo are gone, they are gone...
This search took all of two minutes to find. In fact you posted there too ! http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?95643-5-Ton-turbo-on-a-2-1-2-Ton/page2
See "JasonS" post about his 4LE-354 turbo in his LDT engine.
The best place is at the junction of the exhaust manifold and turbo. You get all the gasses from whichever three cylinders your tapping into. If your only going to install one probe then install it on the back three (4,5,6) . They seem to make the most heat.
This is not the only military vehicle site I go to. On others including the "tractor pullers" they are playing with installing modern turbos. Be that as it may, there has been talk here about installing different turbos. I believe jeepsinker was doing this awhile back as where others. I cannot...
I wished I had done more planning for my retirement ! All the paper work and filing forms and crap takes almost 6 months alone ! Plus I wished I had put more money into the 401K ! At the time I just thought that's a lot of money I could use right now and planned on my last few years of working...
No and no. There are still some NOS parts out there and a few shops can rebuild them. But by and large they are not easy to repair and a number of people I know are going to more modern designs.
I agree. There are so many areas that can benefit from a little machining and balancing. These trucks where never built to be comfort vehicles. So they vibrate a little that's OK. The GI's won't care. After all their in a war right ! All that matters is that they run. That's the attitude of the...
What you have Chris is a code "G" pump. They have a recessed "tappet" and a longer spring. It's the cam that determines the actual stroke of the plunger. The cam part numbers are the same for the LDT and LDS pumps. I have two Hydraulic Heads that came off a LDS pump and five that came off a LDT...
Yes. Now I suppose you want me to find it right ? In all honesty if the clutch and pressure plate are new they shouldn't have any problems. Now if your installing a "four" finger pressure plate then it does need to be adjusted.
One of the things that must be done on every rebuild (of anything) is after cleaning all the parts you need to check-out each part individually and repair or replace any bad or broken pieces.
This is the pump main body and what I'm doing is "resetting" the hydraulic head studs. Using my "stud...
OK then, I'll keep on posting away. Though to be honest in "modern" injection pumps they are extremely complicated pieces of equipment. I was in a Injection pump rebuild class a few years ago when the ISC and ISL engines where coming out. This pump cost over $2000.00 for a rebuild then. After...
Scary good or scary bad ? I don't think most guys are interested either way though but I'll keep posting. Maybe someone in the future can find something here helpful.
