We had a mechanic at work on 3rd shift do almost the same thing ! Except he would sneak out after his "nap" and go fishing ! He got caught driving his truck with his boat trailer coming into the parking lot one morning. Found out he lied on his work reports. How many times can you get away with...
I completely disassembled all the Hydraulic Heads and found no differences between them. The only other difference I have found in all the injection pumps was the taller spring (7 coils) for the "cam" piston used on the "G" model pump. The reason for the taller spring was because the "piston" or...
I would just run the heads with the newer style head gaskets and see what happens. Make sure your head "studs" are in good condition though. It wouldn't hurt to remove them all and run a tap down each hole and thoroughly clean the studs before reinstalling them. New "grade 8" nuts wouldn't hurt...
He's correct and not correct. The normal head can take up to about .020" off with no harm as long as you reset the valves that same amount. The problem is the heads on the multifuel. The amount of material available to take off is not as much as more modern heads. Since the compression ratio is...
Well I like to get on my "creeper" and roll under the truck and sleep. Actually I'm looking at all the "potential" projects on the truck. It just looks like I'm sleeping at least my wife thinks I'm sleeping, maybe I am sleeping !
The only differences are here. Pictures one and two shows the internal linkage with the "Smoke Cam". The left one is the "LDT" and the right one is the "LDS" one. You can see in pictures three, four, five and six the differences in the angles.
The "LDT" had an angle of 47 degrees and the "LDS"...
I have "cots" that we will actually sleep on. Also this will be in the summer. I have slept in the bed of a deuce before in the Marines. Not so bad. This time around I will also have a "mattress" !
Yes. I plan on having spares of all the major failure parts like injection pumps and alternators and such. When the weather gets a little warmer I plan on finishing my M105 trailer with an enclosed top (6 ft tall) and dual wheels. This way I can bring my tools and spare parts along with a extra...
On wheel hubs we sometimes weld a bed down the center of the race and it will drop out. By doing this cold install and heat removal we get longer life out of our hub assemblies.
I'm in the process of rebuilding two Injection pumps. Since I don't have an installer for this bearing on the pump "cam shaft" and I don't want to spend the money on having one made I will use a trick I learned years ago and I thought I would share it with everyone here. First you take the part...
The third way fuel can enter the injection pump and the engine crankcase is through the "fuel boost pump" . Picture one shows the shaft seal that can leak, and the other two show the pump itself and how it mounts to the injection pump housing.
Pictures one and two shows the only place that has fuel that can enter the injection pump itself (not including the FDC and boost pump shaft) . There are three 'O' rings that keep the fuel in. They are sizes "2-230" , "2-227" and ".013" . All are "Nitrile" .
The other two places that can leak...
I should have read all the posts before posting ! I see the VRV pump is out of wack. I agree with NDT and try and adjust it.
I also see your in the "Northshore" area. I have family living in the "Waimanalo" area. My wife was born there.
Take a sample of the brake fluid and try and add a drop of water to it. If it's DOT 5 then it will appear to puddle on top of the fluid. It will not mix. In DOT 3 the water will mix in.
