An extra 16 years on the 30 year old bones does make a body a little slower than it once was. But, if you are enjoying yourself - More Power to You!
Mine is a set of 30 x2 +2 year old bones and some days it takes me a little longer than it used to too. What I have noticed is that most times I...

I see that you found the way to upload. Your original thread was in "conversations" and those are limited to talking. Most of the rest of the site is capable of image uploads. You definitely have a nice looking truck...

We used Coffing Chain Hoists (brand name) to move the axle in to place. There may be other ideas, but leaving the wheels on the axle will simplify alignment. Leaving the wheels on will also keep you from accidentally "preloading" the torque rod.
Long years ago, we had a 60 ton press that...

Welcome to the Outfit!
Thanks for taking the job of training the next generation. JROTC offers the kids a lot. Even those that decide not to enlist will benefit from the leadership training.
Guessing that you have already discovered the TM's that are available here.
Be sure to post up...

Dang. Looks like a heck of a plan!
Having the removable wheel will be really nice if you need to work under the dash. Might be worth cutting a tennis ball (or similar) to drop down on top the "base" so you don't get a knot on your face if you lean over in to it.
Will be interesting to see...

You can skip your trip to the gym this weekend!
Hustling those tires will wear a body out. Using a flat bar and or standing and lifting with your legs with your back to the truck helps a lot. Glad to hear that you made good progress.

We do our best to have fun here. Hopefully you didn't take @NDT 's really funny picture as a personal insult. It wasn't his intent for sure... That really is why a Deuce and a Half is called what it is. That's the "guaranteed by the manufacturer" weight carrying capacity of the truck in...

Sad, but they operate at a special speed.
It's called "Government Speed" and it isn't very quick.
Might also call it "Political Speed" (Go Brandon!)
Use your time to read up on the Technical Manuals so you know more about your truck when it arrives. We have all been through it. It sucks...

Well, glad to hear that we have useful stuff! Happy to see you join up and that you have a nice "new-to-you" truck too. Like several of the guys suggested, the TM's will be useful for sure. One called the Lube Order (LO) that will tell you how much and what kind of oil and grease should be...

Interesting... My battery carrier is a really large fan belt (twice as wide as a belt on my Cummins for example) Rubber between the battery posts gives me more flexible with different battery sizes.
GUESSING you must have some sort of insulator between the posts and the metal carrying handle?

Let's see... In the dark. On the side of a busy highway, In the Rain, with a Heavy Wind - without a flashlight. Yep. That seems to be how it is. Or in the middle of a 95 degree day with no rain for weeks and about ninety percent humidity.

That's interesting Tracer... The DC-8 has a pretty good crab angle coming over the threshold. I noticed in the following image the trees aren't leaning, so maybe the air is different a little lower. :)
Had to snag a few screen scrapes...
Stavenger is over in Norway and a quick look...

Welcome to the Outfit!
I would bet you that your boy will remember that project for the rest of his life... Looks like you have done a lot of neat stuff with your truck - and there are plenty here that have had power plant upgrades. We don't have a lot of "all original snobs" here. Folks...

Hi Knjs,
Welcome to the Outfit!
This isn't a truck, but there are lots of folks here who work on Green and Tan colored makers of power. Lots of folks here too that offer up suggestions and starting with pictures of exactly what you have will help. Might be that a few pix will make it...

If you can't find one surplus and you want Glass or Plexi like @Action suggested, get yourself a piece of cardboard and trace the shape of the opening. Carry that cardboard to a glass shop and they can cut it for you - and chances are good that you can buy the rubber channel that holds the...

Don't worry over the speed. Those big long knobs will let you ease the lever forward or back to gently move the boom or raise the winch. I call it "sneaking up on the action". Valve doesn't have to be pushed all the way forward for sure. Having FLU's hydraulic experience, this truck's...
