The only disadvantage I can think of is that the fording lockout feature goes away. AM General had to design to the possibility that the HMMWV would be driven at 55 mph in 120 degree ambient temps and had to have a way to immediately ford without shattering the fan. I don't plan on doing that...
That IS the Caiman II setup. To my knowledge that is the only vehicle platform Meritor has ever sold this to. Oshkosh has the market cornered with the TAK4.
Sorry bout that, the picture in the manual looked like an O ring, McMaster does not have u-shaped parts that I know of. Now I understand your predicament.
You are quite correct, the ORD9 G749 parts book for the M135 lists the part as a G200 part, ORD p/n 5342366. It is described as Seal rubber 1.25" ID, 1.875 OD, 9/32 thk. This is a McMaster Carr item. Maybe upgrade to Viton. Oh and welcome to Steelsoldiers, hope we can help with your Chaffee...
Talk to the site rep. If it is advertised as "runs with a jump", they will jump it for you and help your driver out. If it's dead as a doornail, the site rep MAY have the ability to push it on a step deck equipped with ramps but if not, you will have to arrange a wrecker to do so. United...
Heavywrecker, don't mean to rain on your parade but I'm hoping you looked at the load charts carefully on the boom. That wrecker may look like a "rotator" on a big HD wrecker but it's not. There is about maybe 20% wiggle room on the weight capacity of the boom and then it folds up like a paper...

Cat can't fix Allison issues, that has to be done by Allison.
Take them to a grungy nasty 18 wheeler truck tire repair place on the side of the road to be dismounted. Then take the rims home and paint them well. Then mount the new tires yourself, it is child's play. As long as the ring snaps down and the ends are about 1/8" apart, all is well.
Please study this: http://www.odts.de/southptr/gears/gears.htm
Of importance is the section E discussion of reduction.
Also important is the observation: "The size of wheel 3 does not influence the behavior of the differential. It can therefore be chosen as space (or torque) dictate"...
Welcome to the forum. I did what you describe. I used the stack that used to be at the fender. I cut it right after the 90 at the bottom and mounted it behind the cab. I left the part that attaches to the turbocharger in place. I joined the two cut pipes using a 90 towards the rear, a long...
