The only disadvantage I can think of is that the fording lockout feature goes away. AM General had to design to the possibility that the HMMWV would be driven at 55 mph in 120 degree ambient temps and had to have a way to immediately ford without shattering the fan. I don't plan on doing that...

That IS the Caiman II setup. To my knowledge that is the only vehicle platform Meritor has ever sold this to. Oshkosh has the market cornered with the TAK4.

You are quite correct, the ORD9 G749 parts book for the M135 lists the part as a G200 part, ORD p/n 5342366. It is described as Seal rubber 1.25" ID, 1.875 OD, 9/32 thk. This is a McMaster Carr item. Maybe upgrade to Viton. Oh and welcome to Steelsoldiers, hope we can help with your Chaffee...
