Do you have the dual brake system ? If not then I would not convert just the front's to disc as they need much more pressure then the drum brakes do.
I've been floating an idea in my brain-case about adjusting the amount of air-pressure the brake booster gives the front brakes. I believe by...
We still have a family owned Hardware Store that has 4 branches here called "Mclendon's Hardware" . They carry an amazing amount of stuff the box stores don't even think about. There is also a hardware store in "Ballard" (a district in Seattle) appropriately called "Ballard Hardware" that is...
I get most all my bolts from "Tacoma Screw" here, but you can order online at "Bolt Depot" . They sell all the bolts you would ever need ie: grade 8, stainless steel, brass, you name it at great prices.
Today I cleaned up one of my in cab air valves and found something interesting. There is a small hole in the handle that goes down to the valve itself. I looked up this type of valve on the internet and found out it is called a "Plug Valve" or sometimes a "Tapered Cone" valve. The reason there...
There's new windows in the classifieds right now and yes there are plenty of crewcab 6X6's out there. The first thing you need to do is get all the TM's and download them (available here on this site) and read them. Also start reading back posts of the Deuce section.
When I was a lot younger I used to go to the mud pits. It was a lot of fun ! Now that I'm old and tired I don't want to spend half a day pressure washing my truck !
That's basically what I did with mine. Drilled them out to 5/16" and installed a Stainless Steel bolt. Then drilled and installed a zerk fitting in the middle.
Actually bus air-bags are "cargo" bags. They really are not designed for comfort at all. That has more to do with the amount of air your using. The German MAN busses had a "special" valve (brake force regulator) that used ride height and brake force to control the air-bags volume. It was a...
I agree about the low voltage killing the starter relays. When it gets too low the voltage/current is not enough to "hold" the relay against the contacts and it "stutters" causing undue wear on the contact plates. This of course leads to total failure of the component. So everyone keep those...
So Recovry4X4 I hear you installed a anti-sway bar in your M1031 ? How does it handle now ? Do you think it was worth the effort ? Also do you tow with your truck and does the sway bar help ?
Thanks.
I just realized today that I never showed where I finally mounted the winches switch connector. So here it is. Later on I plan on installing some 3/8" diamond plate over the winch area, using the winches top mounting holes to secure it. It will also have a 3" hole where the connector is to allow...
I think it is time Steel Soldiers went with another Server with more bandwidth and storage ! This site just told me the server was unable to handle anymore people ! This is happening with more and more frequency lately !
For some reason this site is really slow tonight. In fact it has bumped me off twice now ! I think these pictures will go through though. One shows where I removed the bump stop bracket and the other shows the heavy duty "ORD" shackles I went with.
When I was in Apprenticeship school (for mechanics) that Lincoln manual was our text book for welding. I think it was the 7th or 8th edition then. Back then you had to take welding to become a Journeyman Mechanic. Great manual full of all the knowledge you will ever need to weld properly in my...
I figured it could be done pretty easily. I didn't know how hard it would be to get the parts though. How does your truck handle now with the sway bar in ? Do you tow much with your truck ? I tow a RV trailer around and sometimes in high wind areas it can whip me around pretty good.
