Well I opened a can of worms today ! I had bought some poly bushings for the rear springs a while back. So today I thought I would do a quick install and get it over with. Well the U-bolts had other plans ! It seems they got a bad case of cancer (rust) and didn't want to come off. I ended up...
I'm not being condescending. I'm just stating facts about this impact wrench. Since I also own one and know it's capabilities. I don't want anyone to think they can just go out and buy one and it will handle their deuces tires. And yes I'm a Heavy duty truck mechanic and have been for the last...
I talked with the store manager of the Harbor Freight near me just last week. I needed one of those lifting platforms. He mentioned that they got one of the main engineers from Ingersol Rand to come to work for them a few years ago and these new impact wrenches are the result of that. They also...
You must have replaced them before and lubed the studs. How many batteries did you go through ? Also after you installed the new tires you did check the torque with a proper torque wrench right ? And I'm betting they were no where near the proper torque.
Here's my "fix" for the window problem. I bent up some sheet metal from one of my old heater box projects. I tapped out some holes for a #10-32 stainless steel bolts. I painted the metal today and will install it tomorrow. As you can see on the new window frames I also replaced all the screws...
I suppose for something that doesn't get used a lot it will be OK, but our buses are driven daily and hard. We also had some Ford F500 chassis buses that used this suspension. It too was a bad idea ! Constant breakages. For any truck that must be used and used hard I would never use this...
I got my front windshields back in. I had to replace both of them due to rusted out frames ! I was washing my windows a few weeks ago getting ready for a little trip when I noticed that when I pushed on the glass they moved in the frames, a lot ! So I took them apart and found the rust. That was...
Now before I say anything else I just want you to know that I "LOVE" Milwaukee tools ! I have over 40 Milwaukee power tools ranging from my small 3/8" right angle drill to my 6" concrete drill/hammer. I have over 5 sawzalls ! From the all aluminum housing ones to the new 18Volt cordless Fuel...
Oh I hate that suspension system !!!!! We had it on one of our bus fleets and it was a pain in the A$$ !!!!! Also if you lost an air-bag the bus was only off the ground by 2" !!! Try getting a jack under that !!! We had to develop a "air-bag" jack that would go under the rear bumper. Needless to...
Here's mine. As far as the Dana HD70 goes that was only used in the dually not the single rears. The normal differential was the GM corporate 14 bolt and the regular 1 ton CUCV's (1986 and up) used the NP208 transfer-case. Why are we talking about the anti-sway bars ? Was it mentioned here...
I towed my trailer over the pass (I90) two weeks ago when the temperatures where in the high 80's and the engine never went over 200 degrees. That was when we where creeping up the pass due to an accident at the top of the pass. It took us two hours to get to the top and I saw several newer...
