Thanks Ahab ! Though wreckerman I believe has all of us beaten on gauges ! Or is it cranetruck ? My mind cannot remember anything anymore unless I write it down ! Though I can remember torque specs from differentials and transmissions I worked on 30 years ago !
I used "DynaMat" and the butyl rubber will not allow any moisture underneath it. It has an Aluminum backing which is pretty tough. I plan on installing a rubber floor mat later but the DynaMat provides excellent noise reduction and prevents heat transfer. The only problem with DynaMat is the...
The steel cooler lines don't really add any extra cooling. There are there because the coolant pressure can reach 50 PSI and rubber lines are not all that strong and can be easily cut open or burst. There are plenty of companies that make steel or even stainless steel cooler lines for our truck...
Well I finally got the Deep Water project finished ! Actually I still need to add the 24 volt radiator fans (which I already bought) but that will have to wait until I do the steering project since the radiator shroud has to be modified anyway.
The last picture shows my new brake controller...
Why don't you want to use the deuce mount ? Actually there a generic mount that most trailer manufactures use. You can buy them rather cheaply on eBay. I added 2 mounts to my M105 trailer. Works great.
Save your backs and get a tire dolly. These are what we use to remove all the heavy bus tires. https://www.zoro.com/otc-wheel-dolly-easy-lever-300-lb-5096a/i/G3962640/?gclid=CKfWpZfGg84CFUiTfgodNYMMlw&gclsrc=aw.ds
Did you ever purge the cooling system ? What I would do is totally drain the system and then put in the strongest cleaner you can find and run it for a couple of days. Then make up an adapter to allow you to use a air-blow nozzle at the thermostat housing. With the thermostat removed and all...
You could move the transfer-case. It would be a lot of work and very costly as both drivelines would have to be modified. Also your linkage would have to be modified and your truck bed possibly modified for clearance also. There really isn't any transmission out there except the Spicer 3052/3053...
I totally agree with you about the axle U-joints causing steering problems. What I've been trying to say for days now is "This" problem the OP has is different. I agree with you that the U-joints can seize then get busted loose then re-seize. That is my point ! They are constantly causing...
That's exactly right ! That's my point. If it was totally seized this would be an ongoing problem, "Not" an intermittent one. An axle that has a U-joint that is going out due to rust and corrosion will cause a constant steering problem also. Example: everytime you turn right you have to fight...
Have you looked at a MEP-531 ? I love my little Yanmar unit. It starts up so easy and produces 120 volts all day long on one tank of fuel. Now it is only 2KW so it might not be enough for your A/C unit.
Cattlerepairman where did you buy your new "D" turbo at ? I need to either find a rebuild kit or get a new "D" turbo since mine just developed a nasty leak the other day.
DieselAddict hit it on the head. Yes I have seen it many times, and yes their a royal pain to remove. If your lucky you can break off the end and pull it out through the injector hole. Then just remove the other end normally.
OK to clarify my position I'll try one more time to explain. If the U-joint "seized" (became immoveable) you could not steer at all. It would move a little bit then lock-up. So that means the U-joint was never totally seized just gummed up causing hard steering. The problem the OP has with his...
