    MEP-531 and MEP-501 removing couplers

Thanks for the information. I just hate using heat on engine shafts. I think your right though. They must have used some sort of gear or shaft Loctite to keep that bushing on tight ! I guess I'll have to use some heat to get the adhesive to loosen up. I recently bought this MEP-531. It had a bad...

Wheel Cylinder Rebuild Issues, Re-use Outer Seals

I have had that happen to me before. You basically took off the surface hardening with the rust. The surface hardening is only a few thousandths thick. The bearings will wear real fast now. Sorry !

    M35A2 starting issues

I've noticed that also. I think there is trapped air pockets in the Hydraulic Head. I know the system is suppose to be self-purging but I think on some model injection pumps it's more of a problem then others. Once it fires off and starts to get high pressure fuel all the little air pockets go...

    Tow Bar Stowage Ideas

Though I don't feel law enforcement needs an APC, I still don't want to see them destroyed ! They should sell them to us !

    MEP-531 and MEP-501 removing couplers

Does anyone know how to remove the drive coupler off the engine shaft ? This is the one that has a flexible coupling between the alternator and engine. I've tried a puller and slide hammer and nothing budges this thing ! I of course removed the two set screws and still nothing. It looks like the...

    Tow Bar Stowage Ideas

I recognize that Heavy Tow bar from my M60A1 Tank days. We used the heavy tracked tank recovery vehicle to tow it. Yes it took 3 men to man handle that thing into position ! I had the chance to buy one here last month and there is no way I would have or need that thing again !

    Tow Bar Stowage Ideas

There are plenty of pictures of how others have mounted their tow-bars. I just have them on my bad computer ! Just keep searching. There is a really cool mounting unit from a Stryker I believe that is all aluminum. It has half circles cut out and the matching circle comes down as a clamp to hold...

    MEP 002 Produces no output

Like Isaac said, that is NOT a cheap switch ! It is a quality "made in America" switch that probably cost the military $200.00 . You will find almost everything on these generators is top notch quality. The problems lie with their over-engineering. To much redundancy in everything, and overly...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

That's why my wife had broken up our trip into 300 mile segments a day. I can only handle setting in that truck for a few hours at a time before the pain gets too bad. I suppose once the boy is off to college I can get those nice captains chairs ! Either that or actually buy a newer crewcab...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Now take a steam cleaner to that body and engine. I also put engine degreaser all over the whole truck and engine. Then I got that steam cleaner really hot. It took me 8 hours to thoroughly clean my truck. I then went after it with a wire wheel and sander for another week. Then used a good...

    Reo OA-331 intake/exhaust questions

My old journeyman I learned gears from was in the Korean War. He said the old M35 gassers would overheat so bad they made a standing order that they could only be driven for 1 hour at a time then they must have a cool down period. This was driving through rough hilling terrain. At least the...

    4.2 kW 24VDC Teledyne 4A032-4 generator Manual

After reading this last post, just remember there is even more problems you will be facing with this set-up. Really, save yourself some grief and get a MEP that is already to run 120/240 AC volts.

    75 mph in a Deuce

The engine could turn 8,000rpm's but the drivetrain wouldn't like it ! That Spicer 3053 would not like turning that fast at all ! Not to mention the transfer-case or drivelines or differentials ! Remember those high RPM engines are coupled to high tolerance, fine tooth, small gear transmissions...

    4.2 kW 24VDC Teledyne 4A032-4 generator Manual

First off, hello ! Second, why are you going from 24 volt DC to 120/240 AC ? Just get a regular MEP-002A or MEP-003A or one of the newer MEP-802 or MEP 803 units. Save yourself a ton of grief !
