With 3/16" movement you have bearing problems then. Try and replace them like "Gringeltaube" suggested. If on further inspection you have small bits of metal in the oil then I would recommend you take the pumpkin out and rebuild it.
In the last 4 years I replaced 2 glow plugs. My MEP-002A gets run about 24 hours every month so basically 100 hours a year. So two glow plugs in 400 hours use. That's my usage, yours will of course very.
I find if the temperature goes below 60 degrees F. my MEP-002A and MEP-003A need the glow plugs. They will start without it but they smoke a lot. Now my MEP-531 can start fine at 30 degrees without any help from the preheater.
I saw this post a few days ago and decided I would buy some just to see if they really where the correct ones. Well they are ! They are 7/16 NF thread and just to be sure I ran a Die nut down one and then took an old one out of my MEP-002A and it fits ! So for $5.40 each that is a screaming deal...
How much play are we talking about ? Some times the yoke nut comes loose and you can just tighten it back up. If it is your bearings though you cannot just use the old shims and call it good as the new bearings will be a different thickness. No two bearings are ever truly identical. There is...
I tried so hard to get the deuce ready but then the M1028 took a crap on me. Since we still plan to go RVing this summer
I had to spend all my time fixing it up. On the deuce I still don't have a rear window and just today I took a little spin with the truck and on the return I see my turbo is...
Here you go. http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/Front%20U-Bolts.htm
I would also recommend getting the steering box support kit too. I installed one several years ago and it has really helped !
I should have done it when I installed the hard top last year but I couldn't afford it then. It was a pain, but it gave me something to do ! I did remove the seats to do the floor. I just installed them back on top of the liner. Then I would sit on the seats while I did the roof. The doors where...
I see the modulator is leaking also. Pull the hose off it and see if any fluid comes out. I also agree with cucvrus. I think it is past time for a rebuild on that transmission.
The rear spring front "eyebolt" should be a grade 8 "Flanged" NC thread with a "Flanged" Stover nut. My M1028 uses a 9/16" . I have never seen any "Hardware" store carry any such bolt or nut. Now my specialty bolt and nut store "Tacoma Screw" does carry them. As does Fastenal. As far as calling...
Mike is correct. There is almost no way to buy them on line unless you want to spend literally thousands of dollars. There are only a few places that have all the manuals and they want your first born child for payment ! There are over 30 manuals for the Deuce (probably a lot more, I need to...
The bottom one is a "Cam Lock" and the first one is actually where you put the sending unit for a fuel gauge. You put the gauge in that 3 tang hole with a large rubber gasket and twist it tight.
Since I have 2 1952 and 1 1954 Studebaker REO's I can honestly say the multifuel is a much better engine. More power and torque and much easier keeping it running then constantly fiddling with carburetors and points and condensers. If I had the money it would be a great experiment to convert the...
