I've reverse engineered the original battery charger and now produce replacements.
Will be looking at modifying that design to support the conventional gen head.
The change is the original charger uses ~50 VAC from the PMA @ 150-300 Hz. The new charger version will need to use 1 leg of the gen...
I'd suggest you download the respective -24P TM for the generator you are wanting to convert.
The -24P TM is the complete parts list for virtually every single part of the generator not including the engine components.
For parts that differ between the two 60 & 400 Hz versions such as the...
An easy way is to go thru the respective -24P TM and see which parts are unique to the 60 Hz vs 400 Hz version.
Simply search the PDF for the respective UOC code.
The limitation at the moment is the tiny 8 pin micro controller on the present Governor Controller. It only a couple of inputs and outputs that can be utilized.
What I'm working with at present is one of my Governor Controllers and hacking it up to see if the concept will work.
Still working...

Thank you for that very kind offer!
I will certainly be in touch with you when my plate finally clears with the 3 on-going products and I have time to address goodies for the 002/003. May not be until some time in the fall.
Guy,
Presently I only have 831's and an 802 in my possession that I can use to develop products.
If I get my hands on or easy access to other generator models I could tackle some of those items.
Could you PM me a list of replacement PN's that are in high demand?

You will want to refer to TM 9-6115-643-24 for troubleshooting and wiring diagrams.
If you are measuring only 11 volts on S1-7 when it's in the START position then there is certainly a problem.
Ought to be ~ 24 volts DC then...
Pushing the GFCI Test button will only drop the load to, if any, that's plugged into the convenience outlet.
The main contactor powering the output lugs will remain closed (if previously closed).
GMG parts are way over priced in most cases.
The one they offer for $298 is the blue plastic version that is prone to breaking. It's the Kraus & Naimer CHR10-C57400.
I'd recommend getting a 75902LV from Electroswitch. Last I knew you could order one from them for $97.45 + shipping. It's build...
Yes, there is a High Temperature switch in the engine that will shut it down as long as Battle Short is OFF.
The Coolant Temp gauge circuit is independent from the High Temp switch circuit.
All faults except a Short Circuit fault.
A tip provided by the all mighty MEP Guru Guyfeng..
How to start with Battle Short "ON".
AKA How to start with fault(s) that prevent it from starting and running normally.
Hold the fault indicator reset in, and hold it in,
then turn S1 to the start...
Yes - you can leave the batteries connected when you use two 12V battery chargers.
Be sure the chargers power plugs only have 2 prongs and not 3 and you'll be fine.
That's how I maintain the batteries in my 802. The two batteries are on separate 12V Battery Tenders 24/7.
I've used four 12 V...
