I also only use power steering fluid unless I'm stuck somewhere and need to top off my fluid. True power steering fluid has "extra" anti-foaming agents in it.
I did but I had new lenses put in several years ago so it's OK now. Actually my screenname comes from a group I belonged to in the 1980's . We called ourselves the Rustystuds since we where all "Studs" and loved rusty old vehicles which also have lots of rustystuds ! We even had hats and shirts...
That is so true ! My old friend from my machine shop days had just bought a new Chevy 4X4 with stock tires on it. He tried to drive across his yard because his wife had blocked him in. The grass was wet and he just sat there spinning his tires ! One front tire and one rear tire spinning away ...
Here in Washington State you must have "All" the original safety equipment installed. That includes the doors. You would be surprised how much damage that "Old Trucks" doors can take ! There is also the matter of flying debris like "rocks" that it deflects. I have quite a few rock dings on my...
I know I've become the "Town Crier" about Zinc additives, but almost all modern engines have roller cams. There is no need for the oil manufacturers to have an additional oil with zinc additives in it anymore. It is just "not" cost effective for them. So for those of us who run old engines with...
WOW ! I would just buy a used harness before I did anything else. Really ! By mismashing everything together your only adding to the problems of the wiring.
I agree with mkcoen. I added one to my truck a few years ago and it really helped to stiffen up the whole cab ! I actually bought mine from mkcoen, it was a complete kit. He still might have some left.
My wife is always saying I don't act my age ! Most of the time it's not a compliment either  ! I just don't want to end-up being that "old grouch" on the street all the kids talk about. Then again I might be to late !
That's what I did also ! My headlight switch kept burning out. So after the second switch I got some relays and fuse block and routed all the power through the relays. Now the light switch only has to power the relays. In all honesty that GM headlight switch is not made to handle much current...
That reminds me of when I was working at the Metal Fabrication Shop. I was drilling hundreds of holes and getting bored and careless when one of the "curly cues" from the drilling got flung up into my eye ! It literally drilled itself into my eye since it was spinning. One of the other...
Yes it is :D ! That's why even with the synthetic oil I still use a "Zinc" additive in every oil change. People may laugh at my measures but I have engines, big and small (yard tractor for one) that are over 30 years old still going strong.
Remember that's towing as a fifth wheel not a trailer behind the truck. It's crazy how towing from the hitch is so different then towing from the bed (fifth wheel) . My 1 ton dually tows a fifth wheel trailer like it's not even there, but tow our 18ft RV trailer from the rear hitch and it can...
I was sweating buckets I can tell you and praying up a storm when I was doing this !
Thankfully I was able to get an easy-out in there and twist it out. I did NOT want to have to remove the injection pump just to replace a broken fitting !
I bought some of that "NO-OX-ID A Special" and it's great stuff ! Thanks Tinstar for letting me know about this stuff ! I've been going over the whole truck and putting it on all the bulb contacts and connectors.
