How long does fuel stabilizer last??

In all reality our stock system cleans the fuel pretty good. It is constantly being cycled through the filters. If you go with some modern spin-on filters and a good water/separator ( I use WIX filters) you'll clean the fuel just as well as the Racor system. I know all about the "Racor" filters...

    Mep016d no voltage

My wife was really getting pissed at me for all the money I was spending on it. I couldn't find a good power head out of four I looked at but I couldn't just give up just like FloridaAKM said. I'd spent to much money to throw it all away, so here's the new MEP-016E ! I really like the Yanmar...

    Mep016d no voltage

After spending a few hundred more on another POS piece of junk I gave up and bought this 3KW generator unit. I needed to also buy the 1" to 7/8" coupler. Now I just need to bend some sheet metal to protect the shaft area and I'm good. I already started it up and it runs great ! Now when the...

    Driveshaft/Axle issues?

Take your 'U'-joint apart and see if anything is plugging the holes. You can run a wire through it to check. As far as the Pinion shaft being loose, try and torque the nut and see it has any movement. If it's tight then you have bearing issues.

    Uses for Deuces

With the transmission in first gear and the transfer-case in Low range you have a pretty good gear to pull just about anything that truck frame could handle.

1985 CUCV M1009: Best replacement transmission

I wouldn't say the SM465 is anymore reliable then a TH400. I've rebuilt plenty of the SM465 and TH400 transmissions and the actual cost of rebuilding is much more with the SM465. Plus there is the clutch and throw-out bearings to think about with the manual transmission. Also the pressure and...

How long does fuel stabilizer last??

Their very pricey, that's why I never installed one. I like the idea of a engine oil centrifuge and have thought about getting one many times. Again the cost keeps me from doing it.

How long does fuel stabilizer last??

I have two 50 gallon tanks. Since it is a Multi-Fuel engine the extra oil doesn't hurt anything.

    Lincoln Welders

I always like the Perkins diesel engines. Good sound units ! When I was at IHC several Scout owners had them installed and loved them !

1985 CUCV M1009: Best replacement transmission

The SM465 is not an overdrive so nothing gained over the stock TH400. As far as the rebuild cost, if they just "freshen up" the transmission then yes it will only cost between $600.00 to $800.00 . If it's a true rebuild then your looking at a minimum of $1000.00 to $1500.00 . Then if you go with...

How do I know If my M35A2 is still a multifuel?

They have their own fuel stations for that. Though I've heard they must share with all now.

    won't back up

That's what he was talking about. The old style transfer-case is not a 1:1 ratio out like the "air-shift" one is. It actually runs the front slower then the rear, so you can get a "bind" at times especially when downshifting into low and not coming to a complete stop. The operator manual...

    won't back up

I saw your post last night and since I wasn't feeling well I didn't correct you, but I knew you where going to take some heat for it ! Don't get discouraged though, just start reading your TM's and previous posts here. By the way, the "Positrac" was the name GM gave their limited-slip...

    wheel cylinders

You can find the wheel cylinders all over the place, the problem is there all made in China ! So what I do is go and buy new cup seals from NAPA . Just the generic ones which are made in the U.S.A. Then I gut the new cylinders and install the new cup seals . This has worked for years now and no...

1985 CUCV M1009: Best replacement transmission

I was just going through my manuals today and found my TH4L80-E service manual. I totally forgot how much it really costs to rebuild one of these units. The last one I priced out was over $3000.00 just in parts ! Then there is the whole "upgrade" thing. For a "little" extra you can make it a...

Total brake failure during a panic stop

How does this app work ? Does the phone have a built in motion sensor ? I don't know if I would trust it to give me an accurate measurement of actual "G" force .

How long does fuel stabilizer last??

Up here in the Pacific Northwest it's almost impossible to eliminate all the moisture in a fuel tank. Just opening the fuel cap lets in moisture ! Since it doesn't get that hot here I usually fill my tanks to within 1 to 2 inches from the top to help keep the moisture out. Now if I lived in...
