Yes that is the selenium rectifier for the 100 amp system. Your truck probably had a radio shelter installed at one time. The antenna in your pic is a civi cb antenna. Member Storm 51 here is looking for bits and pieces of the M37 100 amp system, I see the cables are there. Does your engine...
That is what I would call a dream barn find. Ton and a half Chevys unrestored do not get any better than that. The dent in the hood will pop right out with swift boot kick from underneath. The vet knew the value of the truck from the war and thankfully kept it in a shed.
The numbering system in place during 1960-68 would have been numeral-letter-numeral-numeral-numeral-numeral. I believe the first leading numeral should be a 3. The letter would not be an "I" or "O".
Hmm, there would not be a "C" as either the leading character or the next to last, so those are likely zeros. What year is your Dodge? Can you post a picture? As you know the USA stands for United States Army and the number is the military registration number.
Every modern tractor-trailer is set up like that. You are supposed to pull on the trailer before pressing the red charge valve to make sure the coupling is secure.
That would be a yes. OK, the mini ex only weighs 4000 lbs. But it wasn't going anywhere on it's own with it's crappy weak rental unit hydraulics. Truck pulled it more or less at idle in 1st gear. I couldn't do any usual excavator self-extrication gymnastics due to being right next to the...
The interior of the headlight bucket has three military bulkhead connectors for the rubber shell connectors. I will be soldering the wires from my broken bulbs to the new ones I just bought from the auto parts.
Veritread did a great job for me. I picked a provider with a high rating, and it is obvious they work hard to get and maintain the ratings. The per mile rate was as good as my usual transportation broker. The difference was the trucker was completely engaged in keeping the customer satisfied.
I was able to get BAE's last SD Brazos metal grille for my 1078. It is missing the Stewart and Stevenson emboss on the passenger side.
Anyone have a line on more metal grilles? Need one now for LMTV project #2.
Thanks firefinder for letting us know you got this truck and welcome to the site. Hope you start a thread on what all you find out about it and what you plan for it. Lots of tech support here and trust me you will need it. The FMTVs may have been "ultra-reliable" when they were newer, but...
I would call every surplus dealer in the US before considering the expense of a fabricated core. Find the NSN and call everyone. Memphis Equip, Eastern Surplus, SECO Augusta, MTP Drivetrain, Sam Winer Motors, Napco, many more.
