    Hand Crank Deuce

AHHHH !!! Makes sense. Can you pull start a VW engine though ? The old CAT dozers had a pull start "Pony" engine, so you didn't need batteries at all. I believe the last 1956 "D8" I was on had a 10 HP Wisconsin engine with a pull start. For those who feel "air start" is the way to go remember...

Is a Dana 80 strong enough?

I went to the Ford site and used their weight capacities chart. The F650 was the closest to the Deuce. Remember the Deuce can have a GVWR of almost 26,000 Ibs .

Is a Dana 80 strong enough?

If he just wants a basic Bobber to "tool-around" with then these differentials will work for him. If he plans to actually "use" this truck (ie: Haul, Tow, Winch) then he will need stronger axles under it. I agree with you about "Why else have a truck" . To me a truck is a tool, and if my tools...

    Hand Crank Deuce

I'm surprised they just didn't use a small "pony" engine like all the old "CAT" dozers did.

    engine pre lube pump

. The warnings of battery cables and such are OK, but you should see some of the storage area pics of the ones posting them. Their insurance companies would not like what they would see either. Hey, is that a jab at me ? I'll have you know my storage is in a metal container away from anything...

Well that's just common sense. Road trips are suppose to have "good" junk food ! I've always been found of "Hostess" products like chocolate "Ding-Dongs" and "Ho-Ho's" !!!

    engine pre lube pump

I am with you on this. Having worked at Fleet shops who used recycled oil I know what good and bad oil can do. When I first bought my Deuce I wanted to add a pre-luber system, but after adding the spin-on oil filter adapters I don't feel it is necessary anymore. Having torn down engines that sat...

Looking good "jacklegjim" ! I would run a Die-nut down those head studs though before you put the heads back on.

Been accused of building an ice cream truck. Them is fighting words ! No self respecting Military Truck should have to deal with such indignity !!! Especially one as nice as yours !

    Cab Heater Modification

Installed the fittings and hoses. I still need 6 more hose clamps though. I also need to install the cable that controls the heater valve.

Top hat bearing cap torque after ARB install? (bearing preload tool idea too!)

You need to use the Factory torque specifications. If it says 300 ft Ibs then use 300 ft Ibs. That is a really good trick to get the proper "Pre-Load" ! Good job !

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

What pressure did you set your injectors at ? Sometimes you need to go higher then what the TM says due to spring wear.

I see you have two different sizes of "snatch blocks" . Who is the manufacturer and what are the sizes ? They look pretty good !

    M35A3 Owners unite

Now about Hydraulic oil. It must be able to reach temperatures of 250F and maintain that. Engine oil on the other hand has always been run at 10 (F) to 15 (F) above coolant temperature, which means about 212 degrees (F). So who ever told you Hydraulic oil is a lower temperature oil is wrong. Now...

    M35A3 Owners unite

This guy is from a wedsite not "Allison". Maybe he did work at one time on the SAE oil committee, that still does not have anything to do with the ON road Allison 1500 series used in the M35A3. I do know about the 9000 series off road transmissions used in Dozers and such and also about the...

Wet stacking, RPM, I wonder aloud too much

A build up of carbon is not always an indicator of a wet stacking condition.
