My M880 Thread (pics plus bonus M882)

Tires are for sure an issue. The only 16.5" new name-brand tire available that I can find is the Firestone Transforce HT. The HMMWV Wrangler 36" MTs are too old.

    I "HATE" John Deere!!!!

Probably has to do with the M-Gator not being a commercial item and them not having proper access to the parts data. I am not real familiar with John Deere parts support because all my JD equipment NEVER BREAKS DOWN!!!!

bought two 715, one utility box

Great to hear from you Hardmission. Your "utility box" truck could be a M724 Contact Maintenance or a M726 Telephone Maintenance. The contact truck has a taller enclosed body and a Hobart welder. Both of these are desireable to the right person. The contact truck is a bit heavy for daily...

    CUCV Desert Restoration Wheel Color

Folks I need some help making up my mind. Lately I have been painting all my wheels flat black, and I am getting a little tired of it. Seems like the latest "trend?" in the military is to paint the wheels body color. Anybody have any strong opinions either way? Attached are Southern CUCV...

I have my first MV an M170 with a split large gun window I'm restoring, new at this,

Welcome Aaron. I'm nearly certain that your ambulance never had a recoilless rifle in it. Someone had the split windshield and found a home for it. Your only hope for esablishing what unit your Jeep was assigned to is careful sanding of the front bumper and rear bumperettes for unit markings.

    LMTV Park Brake not working

I'm stumped sorry. This I don't understand: "Also park brakes don't apply with lack of air pressure". What on earth is holding the spring brakes back? Not a caging bolt, we see that. How could ALL 4 rear cans have frozen wedges? That is the only plausible explanation. Have someone actuate...

    LMTV Park Brake not working

Often GP, DRMO, or the unit turning in the vehicle will cage the brakes so they can tow it.

    LMTV Park Brake not working

Silly question, your brakes aren't still caged are they?

Couple quick questions about tires and 4 man divider

Oh that's bad azz. Something about all those wheel studs looks mean. You carry a spare? OK, I think the don't mix recommendation is because the tires have unequal wet traction and could cause a spinout in a wet pavement panic stop.

    Hi new member from texas

Welcome Rich. So far you are doing great. About your winch, I would make a post in the "CUCV hot rodding and modification" forum and ask for input on the 4 winches you are considering and the method of mounting. You might also search "CUCV winch" which will give you some ideas about what...

    LMTV fan vibration

The fan makes a very loud air rushing/roaring sound when engaged. I guess you now know that when something mechanical makes "horrible vibration sound" it's best to turn it off and investigate. That is a machine's way of crying for help from it's master.
