These were an attempt to do something with M151 parts that DRMO let you pull off M151A2's before you had to crush the body flat. Somebody in Odessa TX was selling these if I remember correctly. One man could strip down 3 M151s a day and throw the parts into a van trailer. Every now and then...
Between the 855 cid gas Herc under the hood and the giant gas Buda in back, if someone started using this truck and the generator they could single-handedly end the oil price glut.
Ratios are different. Not sure about backwards compatibility, but the pain of swapping both front and rear would drive me to find a pull out chunk from somone like myself.
I don't think the number 24 is from the military. Yes, the generator powered the radar set. If it looks like a factory installation, then yes it is correct.
The Hercules is one of those super simple engines. You really don't need much in the way of manuals to work on it. Pull the choke to...
Building the body with all the rolled seams and compound curves would be a huge undertaking. I think you have the right idea by making your own rear body to suit your business using this chassis. If you parted it out, it would very difficult to sell the bits and pieces.
I have never seen one and my guess is you are the only person that has other than the owner. I believe this one is the only one in existence. I know of only about 20 "666" trucks in the United States and maybe 30 in Europe. This is out of about 10,000 wartime production. A rare truck indeed...
To someone trying to piece together a Chevy dump, priceless. But there are not many of those people around. Shipping this is also very costly. Maybe you should buy it and then find the chassis to go with it?
The pulleys are different between the two engines as well. The 4L80E is a very involved swap. It is longer, so driveshafts have to change. The controller and harness are the big ticket HMMWV-only items. And you need a dual voltage alternator to power it. Hopefully someone who has actually...
The mighty White 666, 6 ton 6x6, Hercules HXD power 855 cubic inches. Same truck as my avitar. I have two and they are my favorite truck of all time but I digress. I think the body on yours is original military from WWII.
Time to poke around in the Doghead relay area with a volt meter or test light. The one of thick wires come from the battery and should have 12 volts all the time. The other thick wire goes to the starter. One of the other wires comes from the ignition switch and will have 12 volts when you...
