Like cucvrus suggested, a light oil - something like Marvel Mystery Oil is a good thing to use to possibly free up the rings. A short shot of WD40 will work for that purpose as well.
Will it smoke later when you try to crank it? Yes, but so what. It is going to smoke a little anyhow.

Food For Thought: There were a BUNCH of these trucks recently sold. How many of them need a replacement IP you ask? I have no idea, but before the trucks that don't run arrive - and there are no pumps available - I would buy early.
(No, I do not sell Injector Pumps)

Have some fun with that empty hole on the dash.
Get yourself a little metal plate or a vinyl decal. Install a dummy switch.
Then on the decal work up the words "CAUTION Passenger Ejection Seat"

I have seen a lot of these trucks with the stick-on foil insulation under the truck. Would imagine that spending a couple of bucks for some bulkhead fittings at the drain hole in the floorboard would be required. Just to keep the rinse water from sagging the insulation down onto the motor...

There are oil analysis companies that could tell you the particulate amount in the sample. They could compare one to another for you too, but thinking about it you would have to have a dozen (new oil) samples to test. Maybe not such a good deal after all...
Might be that the International...

I was pretty happy to see somebody else voice the opinion that I had. I don't think you have an oil pressure problem. Those numbers look good on paper (screen) for that truck. While I am selling opinions here, you mentioned the oil. If you haven't already changed the oil and filter on the...

Sounds like a pretty good plan! Strange how it works. 383 is good enough for a lot of things. My M-936 is that way and I have been pretty happy with it. Got a hard top for it than arrived in 3-Color and it is going to have to go green soon!
Funny how things work around here... I always...

So, did the "love tap" that Wes has mentioned before get your truck to start?
Or did you go straight to uncovering the solenoids and find the white fuzz and crud inside?
.
See... There you go. I was thinking Acetone rather than Xylene.
It all sounds the same to me and that's why I am not a painter!
A nice acetone rubdown before I do any painting seems to have greatly improved my results though. All the grease and things that make paint bubble were solved...

I have watched a few of the guys spray the Gillespie cut with something or another. Still, even cut pretty harshly, it almost acts like spraying pudding. Yeah, I have seen several really good looking Blazers and Suburban style bodies. They look pretty sharp in my mind! Keep up the good work...

Well Heck! A big welcome to the outfit!
That is quite a collection that you found in the cab corner pockets. That pull tab seems to be circa somewhere between 1963 and 1975. I couldn't find any definite end date - and I think there may even still be some specialty cans still made that way...

There is nothing quite like having spare parts. I can only assume that the 936 uses a different transmission than the S&S trucks. Just based on how they operate with push buttons (like a 64 Chrysler) compared to the floor mounted shifter. I did a little digging and found a rebuilt and dyno...

Hi Cody,
Welcome to the outfit!
Yes sir for sure! We need to get you a thread setup so you can post pictures and show what you are working on. I grabbed a few links to make it easier to find things. Sounds like you have plenty of projects - just like most of us ;-)
The standard Deuce...

I guess it has to do with age because I am right there with you Owen! The Colonel in our JROTC unit in high school was a P-51 Mustang pilot in WWII. One of the best war stories he told was of the ball bearing plant at Schweinfurt. Their particular squadron were tucked in tight with the...

Happy to help Owen! I am doing fine here and now I am green with envy. Best of luck to you and Brutus at the show!
I keep hoping we can have just a simple parade around here - but we are cancelling things at the last minute. My trucks are beginning to feel slighted. :-(
We still have a...

Agreed, but it would be nice to have if the wheels rolled and the neck would move up and down.
I couldn't tell if they were maybe 60's vintage grease hubs in the picture. It definitely looks older for sure...
