What on earth is an "end use status"? The OP asked about importation, I have done 3 ex-US military vehicles from Europe to US, costs about 2 grand. Sorry about ya"lls situation in CT, but he asked about TX and titling and registering HMMWVs is not a problem here, as long as they did not come...
I had to do axle service on a M37 that was forded for rescue work, years afterwards. The wheel bearings were rusted to the spindles and it was a nightmare to get apart. Needed all new wheel bearings.
Yes. The device is a servo driven by a troublesome controller in the rear cabinet. It keeps the 6.2 running at a constant speed regardless of load on the generator. Search "SECM" here for lots of info on these and a replacement controller offered by a member here.
Have it RORO'd to Galveston TX fron Zeebrugge BE. I can pick it up for you. Then do a bonded title on it. It is not in violation of any law to title a HMMWV that was assembled from parts or sourced other than from Government Planet.
I once took a group of potential buyers for a test drive in a newly restored goat. There were about 6 of them riding in the back. I was attempting to show them the agility of the truck by doing a little booney bashing. Something about the articulated center joint makes for a ride that wants...
Either way you have to disassemble the pinion bearing stack to adjust the shims as you dial in your gear contact pattern.
Edit: wrong info, read next post.
Agreed, I don't remember ever seeing that style of CV joint on a Goat. I don't think the truss kits were ever used, the units would just call for a 5 ton wrecker to recover, not unusual for a goat to finish a mission "on the hook".
Me thinks the part with the pip pins is a component of the "truss kit" which fixed the carrier to the tractor to allow operation without a center wheel/tire assy in case you got a flat on any of the 6 wheel postions.
Post war PE 95 generators with the later Willys engines had the waterproof dist with a 12 volt coil. That coil is not commonly available and I don't remember if it has a resistor, I think not.
The shaft of the engagement lever tends to rust tight, work it back and forth with the PB Blaster and it should free up. Otherwise it's just a matter of how far you want to take it. New seals thoughout, or just paint it and run it with John Deere cornhead grease. Try to save the DCPD bolts if...
I would start by checking the breathing of the engine. Check the air filter and make sure the turbosupercharger is spooling up. If all is well here, replace all the fuel filters (all 3) and do the fuel density compensator (FDC) bypass. Does the engine run evenly? A valve adjustment would be...
