I fixed someone's M1009 with this EXACT same problem last weekend. I was ready to respond to your thread with a suggestion to look for this problem, but I thought "what are the odds that someone else has a soldered on battery terminal with a cold solder joint?" Now I know!
SECO in Augusta has the track strands. There are no track extensions for the 114. Let's see some pictures, this sounds interesting. Hope it's not a Wood Tiger Jr.
Did it have 395 tires? If so one was sold on GSA Ft Worth not long ago. Looked cool but completely goes against any mobility requirements of the military.
Are you missing the main data plate? The date of delivery is on that. The VIN or serial number is as well. The serial number is discussed in the ORD9 G749 parts catalog as far as production changes, so you will know if you have an early or late truck based on that. The 4111 . . . number on...
No, these are 10 hole Budd pattern, but require special Budd nuts to use on a 5 ton. Nobody that I am aware of is making adapters to put these on 6 hole Budd axles. Thanks Michael for the pic.
The Spicer CTIS system does not pressurize the lines to the wheels unless a pressure change is called for. Since you will be going to duals, you can remove the wheel end hoses and plug the fittings with a bead of silicone or whatever. Then unplug/remove the ECU controller and the PCU pneumatic...
What's cool about this truck is that it is the M1070 of it's day. 60 years of HET development, and they could only get the new one to go 20 MPH faster.
Another takeaway is just because we are former military, we are not exempted from compliance! I see so many DOT violations on the rig I lost count. Why isn't the IV cable plugged in? Where are the clearance lamp bulbs and bezels on the rear of the trailer?
My guess is unrestored, running, it is worth $10K to the right person. There are not very many of these around anymore. 14.00-24 military tires are hard to find, and were last manufactured in the 80's. Hopefully any parts you will need for this are soft parts that you can manufacture...
That explains why it would not roll off the trailer. Sounds like the pinion bearings are seized. The differential is the same set up as in any other vehicle, only is direct coupled to the transmission. Redneck fix: Drain everything, flip it on it's side, and pull the axle for repairs.
Wow that is an incredible find. Even has the slave receptacle. You rarely see those installed. As far as the straw, I would put the shop vac hose on the intake hole and crank the motor over by hand, with the spark plugs removed. Maybe the straw will suck out.
I was in the process of raising the cab of the M1078, when just starting on the way up, the cab latch cylinder blew out, spraying hydraulic fluid all over the right side of the truck. The oil came from the indicator plunger, which we are supposed to look at to make sure the cab is latched down...
