I posted in this thread about getting stuck in wet grass and well here we go. Today's little mess.

MK number for SINCGARS MK behind Pass Seat?

I have searched and searched and cannot come up with this info. Most of the FMTVs I have seen have the radio mount neatly tucked behind the co-driver's seat and not in the center position as required by the MK2400 and 2715 mounts. What is the MK number of this mount? Who has one for sale...

    Repairing or Rebuliding Rear Spring

I have a pair of those springs from a super low mile 1031. They are stupid heavy as you know. Let me know if you need them.

    Civilian version of the FMTV?

To update this thread, BAE completely abandoned the SD Brazos product when they lost the FMTV contract. All factory inventories of parts went either to a few secondary sources, or to the trash or scrap. Oshkosh does not supply/manufacture the unarmored cab or any parts for it.

Bottom pic is the WWII version and it is carbon steel.

    M146 vin

Use the SVS number for your title. If your state lets you use stencilled numbers for your license plate, use the registration number for that.

    M146 vin

Sometimes the serial number and or registration number is written on the sides of the van in grease pencil. Those numbers had to be available when the item was turned in. There seem to be two mfgrs of these, Spencer Safford and Southwest Truck Body. The Spencer Saffords were very early 1960s...

    6.5 eye candy

I just thought it was funny that not for from you, prisoners are doing the same work as you just did. MTP Drivetrain rebuilds all types of military engines for the government.

    6.5 eye candy

Nice! I was just looking at dozens of 6.5s at MTP Drivetrain on the way to San Quentin for prisoner HMMWV rebuilds!

I think after riding a few miles on the Hendrickson walking beam suspension, the bees are going to say "to he11 with this" and buzz out of the hives and you will arrive with empty boxes. All the 915/916/920 have this suspension which I do not think flexes even with a D7 Cat on board. I'm with...

When was the last time your injection pump was rebuilt?

Welcome. The 915 fills the bill for your 2000 mile runs, but my experience with the stock 11R22.5 rubber on wet grass and a loaded trailer is that the truck will just not move with tires (all of them) spinning. You might need to upgrade to '395s'.

    M149 water buffalo

Hmm, fiberglass tank, I would say $1000 is the bottom dollar. The stainless tanks bring more, as people use them as fuel bowsers.

First drive m998 quirks, noises, nature of the beast ?

Looks a lot better! They are loud, but no gear whine should be noticeably louder than the 6.2.

    Whats this mean? NLOVHK

The registration number is the military's equivalent to a license plate number. Each truck is assigned an unique number upon acceptance by the various branches. Army wheeled vehicles begin with "N".

How much weight can tires and chassis handle?

    The tandem is 44,000.

Nice! Looks like it needs a MDJuan floor and rear panel to make it show quality.

    Help with Bumper/Unit Markings

Welcome to Steel Soldiers. Here is my crack at it, don't start cutting stencils until we have a consensus. (This is for the re-org) Left side: 80ID 780 OM Right Side: TRK 23 The "TRK 23" is the fictional 23rd truck assigned to the 780th.

    MEP002 CNG conversion

The inexpensive MEP-17A is super simple to convert to regular house natural gas. So is the PE-95.

    m135 .m211 axle

75W-90 or 85W-90 hypoid gear oil. Over a gallon goes in there, until it runs out the fill hole. A quick flush with Varsol might be a good idea.
