While your in there, clean up every ground you find.
Use good electrical grease also.
Its amazing how just doing that can make a huge difference and get rid of other gremlins.
$170 isn't expensive if you can't find another one.
If I needed one I wouldn't blink at that.
But on the other hand if same part was, say $500, I would not even consider it.
Only you know what your limit is.
At some point another one "should" become available.
Im looking now for two...
Washed it.
Man was it dusty.
Engine too.
Changing oil and oil and fuel and air filter tomorrow
Mobil 1 oil (for diesels) 15w-40
Wix filters.
Been using that combo on everything I own
My 06 duramax just rolled to 389,000
Bought it brand new and has had Mobil1 since first oil change.

You know the longer screws and spacers can be found at any good hardware store right?
Bought 5 Military issue LED sets on eBay and the longer screws and spacers at the local Ace hardware store.
Hardware was about $3
There is nothing special about them.
just fyi
Ah
Yea that wouldn't work
Tinted windows will make a world of difference. All my non-MV vehicles are tinted.
Also using windshield shades help also to keep direct sunlight from inside.
Of course the fact that zero insulation isn't helping any.
I have a 24v trucker fan, whatever it called...
I fly them
I don't fix them.
But being an Army Aviator (CW4) means you have to know your aircraft inside and out.
Have a detailed working knowledge about electrical systems, hydraulic systems, powertrain etc.
If you know how the systems work in detail and with each other it will help...
There is no ill tone on this end.
I have done same thing as you and couldn't find squat.
Just got lucky is all. Nothing bad intended in the posts. Just relaying that I searched and was successful.
Some guys don't search and just post without doing their homework.
Was just asking
I just...
I think a new "Rustys Corner" help section is needed.
Troubleshooting, pictures of internals
What and what not to do for maintenance etc.
Thats the one thing I have never attempted to work on other than oil and filter.
Confusing as heck.
I can draw out and explain in detail helicopter...
The internet is your friend.
I just did a search. Found a factory GM NOS one still in sealed box in about two minutes.
Bought the last one they had.
I know it's a very hard to find part. I looked a year ago and couldn't find one.
I know it doesn't help you now but I found it in the first...
There are structural adhesives that when fully cured are stronger that the metal.
Helicopter main and tail rotors have been using these for years with extremely good results.
Quite a few other areas in the aircraft also use it.
Most are easy to work with and only a few have the toxic smell...
Good ones are hard to find.
Took me months to find a rust free M1009 & M1008A1 for my girls from Uncle Sam.
Think about 10-15 years from now. How many factory original CUCVs will be left?
Very few I think.
Most customize theirs and a lot of them not in a good way.
Others simply trash/abuse...
I just bought 5 sets from the bay.
A trip to the hardware store for the spacers and screws. Our local hardware store has small spacers just like the ones mentioned.
Will install next week.
Do not care about green color.
Closer to NVG lighting anyway.
Thank you for the info!!
I bought one from there also. Sand color and all LED lights.
Zero damage and very little paint flaking.
All goodies included.
A good power wash made a world of difference.
Used a 5 ton for recovery.
The trailer is heavy!! 5 ton had no issues. Hills killed speed though.
A lot of hills in...
My plan is to take paracord (US issue, not China junk) and run it front to back, about 7 inches apart, to create support in between bows.
Looping around each bow.
It's more than strong enough to handle any rain or snow.
Plus its a lot lighter and easier to deal with than plywood.
