"Buyer loads" absolves them of loading if there is no forklift available as in "unmanned sites".
My experience has been that most GL folks will assist to the best of their ability.
I have even had them to ask military folks (if any are available) to jump start vehicles or help load something.
As...
What about counter-balancing it with another ring mount over the drivers side?
I know you could only fire it standing still but twin 50's would be bad-azzed to the max.
You may be losing prime when the truck sits for a while......my deuce does the same thing.
It usually takes two or three cranks to start it after sitting a while.
Unless it takes a lot of cranking (to the point of getting the starter hot and draining the batteries) you are prob all right.
I think it was the width of the bed that made it over width...not the tires.
There was a bridge unit near my unit at Ft Benning......I drooled over those trucks all the time.
Are your rims FUBAR or are just the tires.
You could put wider civilian tires on the stock rims (just dont go too wide).
Why do you think you need wider tires?
I have pulled some heavy loads in a M105 and never had issues.

Bystander remarks......."look at the big azzed winch on that wrecker"...
Whether you flat tow it or piggy back it you will still need to hook up air lines and lights.
Piggy backing will have less rolling resistance and put weight on the rear of the towing vehicle for braking purposes.
If you piggy back you will not have to disconnect the front drive shaft if you...
Winch=big reel mounted on your front bumper.
Wench=archaic term for a member of the female sex.
While it is possible to winch a wench out of a ditch, you can't wench a winch out of a ditch.
Not busting your chops but you do see the ramifications of misunderstandings...right?roflrofl
And I...
I would drop that Cat idea like a bad habit....any engine painted yaller is going to cost big bucks to buy and to repair when it breaks.
My choice would be a 60 series Detroit.....just a Cat painted green and cheaper to buy and maintain. Speed is not going to be a factor because that truck is...
Most GL locations will work with you on pickups if you have a decent attitude.
A lot depends on how much stuff they move through a particular site and how much help they have.
A lot of active duty military bases require you to be escorted to the GL location if you dont have a military ID...
David Doyle is our resident expert on many classes of MV's, he is also editor of MVPA's "Supply Line" magazine. He has written many books on MV's and often attends MVPA and SS events. If you are a book person I would recommend them to help identify MV's.
