Wow! Amazed that they have not got the word that MB/GPW's in that condition are worth thousands. Too bad for the GMC's, no hope for them. The Chaffee looked fixable, I have seen worse pieced back together. Thanks for posting the link.
Every MTV and LMTV has these tires and these are the trucks that replaced the deuce/5 tons. The 395's will become as common as NDCC 9.00-20's and 11.00-20's were for the last 50 years, for many years to come. The Goodyears seem to hold up to cracking and weather checking better that the Michelins.
Visit Halftracks.com and talk to Gary. He is a member here, I think G102. The armor is very basic, undo the 3/8 NF countersunk screws and remove the pieces. Missing pieces can be easily made with 1/4 steel plate. But let me tell you it takes FOREVER to drill and countersink all those holes.
If Sandcobra's diagnostics are good and engine still won't bust off, unscrew the 6 injector lines and check for lots of diesel when cranking. Could still be air-bound after having the supply disconnected. No diesel ever is a sure sign of needing the pump fixed.
No WAY! You will find out the same thing as the MRAP drivers in Afganistan that those winches have no AZZ. I have one on a lowboy set up to drag dead trucks up the ramps and it struggles even with a snatch block.
Easiest is to run new wires to the 4 corners of the truck for the 460/461 circuits. Then obtain +24 and brake light feed from both sides of the brake pressure switch.
You are right, the master schematic is not in the manual I posted, but the M915A1 schematic in the -20 manual is very very similar, also on the JAtonka site. I checked and it is there, at the very back of volume 3. Seems like all you would need to change is the feed to the in dash starter...
Go to JAtonkam35.com website and view TM9-230-273-20, figure 5-37 et al will explain the wiring. The o.e. giant battery cables will be fine for 12 volt. The 24 volt delete is a really good idea for most users. The transformer rectifier is a ticking time bomb on these trucks, and will burn up...
Call the forestry service and insist that GSA reissue the SF97 without the brand. I have had to do this several times. Remind them who the CUSTOMER is. Each time for me there was no problem. You will have to return the SF97 you have now.
I have run into this before, just not as severe. The old intake/exhaust assy may have been surfaced numerous times over the years, each time cutting .010 or more off. When you mate the old intake to the new exhaust, you get what you got.
XM532E2 made by International, based on the Payhauler. DTI817 power, Clark power train. Was intended to replace the M123 ten ton, but was not particularly reliable. The M911's ended up being the new tank haulers.
That is a nice unit. Super quiet and easy on gas, simple to convert to natural gas or propane. Engine parts are same as flatfender Willys Jeep. I would pay up to $1000 for that, but much less would be much better. That is the 1950's version which is 10kW, the WWII ones were 5 kW.
Used in WWII and Korea. Originally made during WWII. Civilian engine is Briggs Model A. Parts for this engine show up on Ebay. I have had good luck using condensers from Tecumseh engines in these. It is a PE 236a, you left off the E.
