Jumped into the deep end and don't know how to swim in the transmission pool

Unbolted torque converter directly from USMC means they got started pulling the trans due to it being shot and then someone figured out it was eligible to go to excess so away it went.

    M172A1.....Legal???

I'll never forget, back in the day, one of these came up for Ft Hood DRMO live auction that was bowed in the middle a lot. Auctioneer told us "yeah that's what happens when you load a 50 ton M60 tank on there" which apparently they routinely did at Hood.

    WTEC II help-- hesitant downshifting

Codes stay in memory. Everything points to throttle modulation not being communicated to the WTEC.

LMTV Cat 3116 Issue >> Fan always on <<

News flash: FMTVs are like a Harley, every few hundred miles you have to stop either for repairs or to reassemble them. Best to learn how to turn wrenches and perform diagnostics.

Help identifying 11" brake components on M38a1

Back in the 70s 80s this was a common swap. I do think all 4 positions are the same. I "vaguely" remember this being described as the "Ford 11" brake swap".

    Howdy from Texas!

Welcome from Houston area. EUC advice: Write everything out, no abbreviations. Don't leave any fields blank, put "not applicable". Put "for intended use" where it asks about that.

New Owner - Where to start?

Did you have them delete the hard top? If not you will need the GMV C pillar from HMMWVSUPPLY.com. Yours is a dead ringer for mine. Unfortunately the Bajas will need to be replaced, they show cracks in the tread.

    Wasn't having any problems until......

Not saying that. I am saying that they get weak after time and susceptible to failing, which is exasperated by increased voltage when 1 or more are burned out.

    Wasn't having any problems until......

Ok you are quite correct that the glow plugs are wired in parallel. But in the case of the patio lights, the line voltage stays constant with the grid. In the HMMWV, the battery voltage dips significantly with the nearly 80 amp draw of all 8 plugs (the voltmeter dip we see). When you start...

    Wasn't having any problems until......

When one fails, the remaining 7 see higher voltage as the system is not dragged down as much, which causes them to glow hotter, which causes another to fail, rinse and repeat.

So you bought a fully serviced truck from “MME” and after 700 miles the front differential chewed itself up?

Is there a difference in canvas cab covers?

I have never used the center bows with a canvas top, but since they are removable, if the little bows push up too much, just take them off. All the tops are intended to fit the 2 1/2 and 5 ton pattern trucks. SECO is a great supplier, they are legendary in the army truck business.

Is there a difference in canvas cab covers?

From 1951 until the 80s there were no center support bows. Those seemed to come about with the insulated tops.

Stuck Wedges? Right Side Brakes will NOT release

Yes. Air is used to push on a diaphragm which compresses the spring, which pulls on a plunger that allows the wedge to retract that forced the shoes against the drum.
