Yea we got off topic. But as said we are here so I just for my own reasons would like to know what others feel is the max and min. amount of zinc our diesel need.
Rusty I never question your paper work and I have said it before I don't measure a man /woman buy the paper work. Yea if you are my...
You missed my point what would be the best numbers for the zinc content in diesel oil. Could you scan and post your last oil analysis. What were the levels in diesel oil before the EPA drop? We should start another thread on this as this is a side track of the OP's first question but till they...
Believe years ago when the oil designed for cars lowered the zinc and the older / modified engines switched to Diesel oil.
I wonder how many military trucks are still just running Rotella and still putting on the miles.
Also switching cams to an aftermarket can be a problem but Comp cams would...
Perry Fl .to lake Butler Fl. is almost 2 hours. I am just 1/2 hour away if you need help. Big yard in Interlachen and big yard at my other home in Newberry. You could drop off Allens trailer and Russ's tires in Newberry. Newberry is one hour from Perry. I can get Allen his trailer. Newberry is...
Found this on comp cams. No Syn. on break in and remove inner valve spring and keep the rpm up. Guess it boils down to reading everything you can that is more than opinion and then make you call as to what you are comfortable with in life. If your wrong than you pay up if not then we go on to...
Hot rod and proper break in also believe your talking about gas motors oils. Did you do the proper break in with the very high levels of zinc and not use syn. oil to start with? Our trucks are not race cars that demand a lot more. Yes there are additives and google is are friend.
As I said...

Lets look at the number and it seems like most of the diesel oils are still in the ball park of 1200 ppm. Just saying.

Seems like everything I read the guys having problems are on older engines that...
Rotella T5 CJ4 has 1181 ppm zinc and the old CI4 had 1400ppm. My .02 we are still good.
As for the fuel it's funny how the question has been coming up from almost day one of SS.

Looking at one web sight Rotella T multi grade SAE 15w40 cj4 with triple protection had 1200 ppm zinc.
I just changed my GMC 3500 to Lucas 15w40 full Syn. and they claim 1281 ppm.
My GMC 3500 has EFI live and I can roll coal or dial it down when I want. Mechanical or computer controlled we have control.
All rtadams89 has to do is get a black marker. If he has a heater he will have to leave it hooked up just lay it over the motor. If no heater then it will take five mins...
Pull the rubber boot back off the master cylinder push rod just a bit and if it's leaking then you will see it. Oh don't be right under the master when you do it or you will feel it.
No one read Franks post how they do it in Az.
If I remember right the Cummins turbo PT has a A/F screw that can be used to control some of the lower end fuel. Same as the Deuce but it's the smoke cam /droop screw. If you don't think you can do it then I bet there is member close to you that...
Lets see if you can lower the fuel by the droop or smoke cam. Then one thing that might help is don't let the engine cool down before the test. Don't let her idle for a long time before the test and maybe just maybe if you remove the air filter just before you drive it in to the shop. PM if you...
Is you FDC bypassed or has your fuel been turned up? If the FDC was bypassed the droop might not have been turned down. Turning down the main fuel also might help a bit.
