Chelsea PTO (Take-Off) for my M1088

Thanks! Not sure that I could round up four people but that is an idea too. A bar or a 2x4 with the strap in the middle supporting the PTO would let two folks not have to work as hard as it would be with only one... Having multiple options is a good thing! - Tim

Chelsea PTO (Take-Off) for my M1088

Neat!! Thanks ramdough ! Just walking through the steps helps a lot. It really is amazing how heavy that little ball of iron is! And on your back, and reaching up over your head... Today for some reason, I tried my SAE sockets on the bolts that came with my PTO. Trying to plan ahead, and I...

Steel Soldiers MV of the YEAR 2020 - VOTE HERE

I don't know why... I sent a note asking permission since I am not really a qualified vendor here. Didn't want to cause trouble or "get the hammer" lowered on me. I have the art ready to go and we could print them tomorrow. Let me send a followup note tonight and see what I get? Tim

5ton dump truck - mud flaps

A couple of chain links might be pretty neat. Seems that the KEY to not losing your flaps is the "hanger" and a hole in the flap to hook it over. Funny how discussions here will teach you something if you listen and think... I noticed a hook on both mudflaps on the back of my M1088. One...

    M373 Axle Swap

Rather than being a yard ornament at your place, maybe that green M373A2 would work better as a yard ornament at my place? It is definitely a nice looking trailer. I particularly like those wet bearings. My M871 Flatbed has grease rather than oil... Maybe I am just getting old, but I sure do...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Wow! That is great news Owen. Nothing like having the right tool for the job... And I'd bet the burger was a pretty good reward at the end  .

Need Me A New Steering Wheel - M936

I like that! Pretty neat... Something like that could be made out of the plastic stuff that political yard signs are printed on (CoroPlast - corrugated plastic). On that plastic would give the sun shields some insulation value as well.

Chelsea PTO (Take-Off) for my M1088

Nice. I will go hunt down that thread! We managed to get the winch bolted to the side of the truck today. I have a really amazing college kid that really gives me hope for the future of our country helping (doing) some MV work. He goes back to school in a couple of weeks but it sure has...

Steel Soldiers MV of the YEAR 2020 - VOTE HERE

Wow... A calendar would be a pretty neat. I was looking at the pictures we have here - and some of them will "work" and some won't. The "won't" aren't that they won't work - they just will not fill up the space left to right on a page. Let me grab the 12 images that we have and see what it...

    M989A1 build

Company that I worked for long ago... The guy who owned it couldn't back a trailer if his life depended on it. He had a Dodge Weapons Carrier on his boat lot (another company he owned) to pull big sailboats out on trailers. It worked great pulling them out. No so much if he had to go...

Need Some Help From You Military Truck Guys...

Wow! (That says it all). Very impressive build... .

Nice!! Really nice. Tires look great and the body looks great...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Hi Owen, It would be really neat to know how well that tool works. I have always just been inclined to remove to old Zerk, poke around with a paperclip or a packing hook or scratch awl to remove the crusty grease... Looking forward to hearing what you discover! Tim

Which tractors were used by the Air Force to pull nuclear missiles?

Neat! That truck almost looks like some variant of an Autocar AP19

Which tractors were used by the Air Force to pull nuclear missiles?

This one is a little older than your time frame, but it was used to drag the Atlas Missile. The one above has the Minuteman on the side of the truck (really cool!). ...

    M989A1 build

I don't know for sure charlesmann but it sure sounds like a good idea... Having loaded flatbed rollbacks (wreckers) from the side and setting something heavy on it and the airbag suddenly lifts the truck back to its original height. Scares the "stuffins" out of you when that unexpected "lift"...

    LMTV Winch Maintenance

Ah well... No job is complete without bolting something up, then removing it and bolting it up again. I wouldn't expect any less for most of my projects - and the good part is that I have learned to deal with it. No need to pitch a fit, just unbolt those recently tightened bolts and move on...

    LMTV Winch Maintenance

Interesting observation about the winch having sludge in it Oski1042 ... You mentioned hydraulic fluid and the filter on that tank: I am way behind where you are. I got a frame that had the winch, tank, hoses, and fairleads. In the process now of migrating that stuff onto my M1088. First...

Chelsea PTO (Take-Off) for my M1088

Hi Toby, I guess not. I took a few more pictures and added them to my original post. Mine looks completely different on this M1088 (2003). Guessing my transmission in this one is different than the M936 (1984). The shifter on the tractor is push button and the wrecker is a T-Handle that...
