Last week we had a cold snap in AL, it got down to 18 degrees, so I needed to add anti-freeze to the 816 wrecker.
Since I had two hot batteries I figured there would be no prob starting even though it was already in the 20's with a frigid wind blowing out of the west.
I cranked her up and she...
I have a 109 that I bought to flip but it is beginning to grow on me. Mine has twin antenna mounts on the front. It has a bench installed in the front where radios were mounted. There is also a desk and small bench, padded with a genuine GI wool blanket.
I have taken it to the local flea market...
The thought of bobbing the M52 has crossed my mind but I need a 5 ton tractor more than a big bobber.
I like the idea of power steering and huge tires......I'd have to lose the multi-fuel and put in a big cam 350 and 10 speed Road Ranger tranny. Now that would make the Hummer crown look.
If it is a deuce the axles will bring at least a grand from some rock crawler. Then there is the tranny, TF case and other stuff. If the sheet metal is good that's another couple hundred. You have to factor in moving it and can use that as a bargining chip. The good news is that scrap prices have...
Ryan,
I still have the M52 but it is S L O W.......but I may have access to a civilian tractor.
I am looking at a semi-trailer located east of Hotlanta.
Bidding ends today so I will know in a few hours if I got it.
Wreckerman
Dragon...they are 24 volt..donno why they had that type plug on them. It can be cut off and whatever you want can be attached. They also have a fuse in them.
Quarkz...that bed had a cover on it and they used that plug to get power for the lights they had installed on two of the cargo...
I just sold a M36. The wheel base is longer and the turning radius is bigger.
The one side dropside was for loading missiles off and on the truck. That is what the M36 was built for...resupplying a now obsolete system.
Good way to recycle.
I have several of the old slave ports with the two prong (prior to NATO) plug in my "have no use for but can't stand to throw away" pile.
Maybe someone on the site has a use for them.
But if you don't have the old end to reuse you could buy one of these from me. :)

I have picked up several items at Redstone and know the folks there well.
I am picking up a 3/4 ton trailer as soon as the hated SF97 clears. I will be going up in the bob duece to pick the trailer up.
If they will load my trailer in your trailer I can pick it up for you. I am 80m miles SE of...
Sooooooo.......they are 10 bolt, 20 inch rims....were a military application....may have been stock rims on a howitzer and might fit on a 5 ton.
The question is will the back spacing (or lack of it) affect using the rims on a prime mover.
If they will fit a 5 ton I would love to have seven (got...
I have a straight pipe on the 816...it was done out of desperation since I had to move the truck quickly from where I was making repairs on it. It is LOUD and as soon as I get my federal bailout money I am going to put a muffler on it. If I can figure a way to do it I would like to have twin...
Sounds like they might be good rims for a 5 bob ton project or to put bigger tires on a wrecker or other 5 ton.....if they are the right bolt pattern.
Pics would be a big plus if you can get them.....if they have a custom application 20 bucks would be a huge bargain.
I am close enough to...
I was considering going 3k on it but then I remembered it was in the neather regions of the country where that white stuff falls and stays for weeks I kept myself in check.
FT figured the miles for a recovery from my LZ at about 4200 round trip.
As much as I would have loved to have it I:
