That's the same Doosan "annihilator" forklift the DRMOs have down here. Never met a driveshaft it couldn't bend or fender it couldn't crumple. I guess the government couldn't afford an american made forklift. Thought there was a law about that.
Glad your recovery went Ok after all.
Whatch need to know? The winch is a Ramsey 50 and there have been posts about it here. The exact same winch set up was used on the M38A1. The winch setup is worth more than the jeep in most cases.
Yup uses 11.00-20 tires same as a 5 ton. The box with doors on the gooseneck is original, the goofy attachment to the rear is not. There are supposed to be heavy angle irons across the rear to clip on ramps.
For sure is a 1950's M270 (air brakes). I had a M269 (short version) and did not like it, deck is way to high to be useful as a equipment hauler. You could haul about a zillion round bales with it though.
Sweet truck, they don't come any more rust free than that. And a straight front bumper as well, that is unheard of. Yours had a radio in the back at one time, see the holes on the RH side of the bed. PM me if your dead Tornado needs a home.
Welcome to the site. You are correct, it is rare to see a M1009 up for auction in Hi. Probably have to bring one from the mainland, just takes a pile of money! We're all enjoying the remake of Hawaii 5-0, there even was a thread here regarding MV's in the premiere episode.
I would be on the lookout for rust under the battery box and along the cowl under the windshield. Also in the front of the bed. In my opinion, buying M37's is all about finding a nice body. Mechanical problems and missing parts are an easier issue to solve than finding a good body to install...
Welcome! What part of Texas? Lot's of MV activities in the HouTx, DFW, San Antonio, and Austin metro areas . . . Usually announced here on Steel Soldiers.
Nice shop! You know things are getting out of hand when you start cocooning your trucks with parts. I would know. Have you calculated how many lifetimes of restorations you have lined up ahead of you? I am at about 4.
Nice truck. They are heavy! So does Pilgrim have treatment for addictive disorders? Might need to swing by . . .
And what is all that white stuff in the pictures????
Whatcha need to know? The two sites (Ft Sam and GSA Ackerman Rd) are within 8 miles of one another. The odds of your EUC clearing during your pickup window at Texas Facililties is slim to none.
Also, takes a big truck and trailer to haul two deuces. And as you know, all the Ft Sam deuces...
If you have something major to do under the hood, the fenders pull off super easy, even has a cannon connector for the wiring harness.
The first mods I did on the 915s was to get rid of the brush guard? and the spare tire holder and crane. I'm about to install the rear catwalk from a M275...
