Yep if you got 5 hours to blow don't worry about checking the cooler/filter housing bolts. Now to get the parts and put it back together. Can be done with most hand tools. I did have to grind down a long double box end 15-13 mm wrench to get to the inside rear exhaust manifold nut. The other...
Yea this would be a good Tec tip of the day. If your oil cooler is not leaking double check all the bolts as seven of mine were loose.
Hate to say it be it was too late for me as the gasket is blown out. By checking your cooler bolts you might save yourself a lot of trouble.
Working on the M1088 3116 Kitty. Changed out the oil pan gasket twice. Not the pan gasket. Just power washed and it getting dark so I will get a new oil filter and start it up. Looks like it's coming from where my finger is pointing. Got to know when to dump them all right. Anyone seen a leak...
I had to do the oil pan so here I am might as well but on the AC lower bracket. As per the pics the AC bracket goes in the two lower motor mount holes. So that leaves us with the Trans. cooler going on first then the AC bracket on top of that. That would leave a gap on the rear top mount. In the...
I don't know but that is what was on there when I took the pan off the first time.
I say it is easer to remove cooler and it's bracket. If you have steel lines just watch very carefully for the small O ring on the end of the lines. They can be used again if you don't hurt them. I used four stud...
I am doing my 1997 3116 Kitty M1088 now. They gave me the thin paper one but it leaked. Went back to Cat and asked for this one. I have steel cooler lines so yes I had to remove cooler and it's bracket from the motor. Yes I loose some fluid. After it drains I just put a plastic bag and tape it...
Not a TM but Trouble shooting the 465 is a good one for trouble shooting and set ups. Posted by G
I don't know if you even have a droop. You might just have smoke cam. So the easy way is since the FDC is bypassed just remove the whole FDC and look inside for the droop screw. Then it is done...
Jello
Gear should look like this on install. Also it is much easer to install the gear after the IP is install and bolted down. Then put in the drive gear as the pic shows and check the timing. Adjust if needed by the center nut and when correct tighten down the three bolts on drive gear. If...
If all else fails just read the directions. The best way to find TDC is remove the front valve cover and watch the number one intake open and close. This is where so many get messed up by doing what is incorrect. That would be Guessing and not knowing.
That would be the advance unit that is FUBAR. Also there is an easer way to remove the IP with gear installed. There are three studs that go through from the front cover to the IP. If you look you can see which ones they are as I forget. Think it is the one at eleven o"clock. The one at four...
I don't know what the rating is on the Primary stock cleanable filter and thought the replacement throw away was 10 micron's. The stock seems like it would have been 30. If nothing else I just go with the 6 in the final and don't seem to have any trouble yet with my fuel systems.
I would start by double checking timing. Harmonic Bal. on correct mark and # one pistion is TDC. Four bolt cover on IP/ Advance unit window on mark and the Head is now one tooth to the rear of it's pointer. From there we will tweek the IP. Is the FDC bypassed? Needs to be done but ether way...
