Bolt in a Tire on my M1088 / LMTV

Thanks snowtrac nome! I figure a plug kit in the truck after making the attempt would be money well spent. As a teenager, I worked weekends in a tire store. I learned the concept of following the hole if there is one - rather than being a DA and punching a new hole in the tire cramming a plug...

Bolt in a Tire on my M1088 / LMTV

I have 6 more just like it... Five on the ground and a spare. All in about the same condition. Tread doesn't seem half bad... It made the trip up from Sarasota Florida and road as smoothly as a 1088 and empty trailer could be. I was hoping to get another year or so out of them? Should...

Bolt in a Tire on my M1088 / LMTV

Sitting as it is right now, using Dawn in a spray bottle - I get no bubbles. CTIS stabilizes and the red light stops blinking when my air tanks fill up. I have an air leak of some sort that seems to be dead center under the cab. I hear it hissing when I turn the truck off...

Bolt in a Tire on my M1088 / LMTV

So, I am smart enough to not just yank the bolt out... On the other hand, it might be a short bolt that hasn't punctured the inner core of the tire - and the more I move the truck around - the worse it might get. This CTIS plumbing is new to me. Not so sure I want to call a tire repair shop...

My Little Black Truck (Deuce ****)

Wow! That is nice looking. I might even go so far as to say super extra very clean even!

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Hi Owen, Honestly I am not sure about the rubber door molding. I did send SECO an email asking about parts though. They list Deuce parts. I saw mention of them supporting the M9xx series of trucks - but I didn't see any parts on their site. I figure asking is cheap. ;-) There are...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Thanks Owen! Yes sir. I think the sanding and wire brushing would definitely have to come first. I discovered McMaster Carr by a recommendation of Simp5782 . They have good fasteners. They even sell stainless. Might be a good investment up where you are. When you get the other numbers -...

Is your high water MV ready to help those in need this hurricane season...?

Never have been able to understand that... Something as simple as minding your own business should be pretty easy. Code Enforcement though - they think they are special. And nosy neighbors - I don't have much use for them either... Here in the Great State of Mecklenburg (Charlotte, NC) we...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

So... Those look pretty sweet. Imagine that! Rubber door molding that isn't painted green!! Are you sure you aren't supposed to glob green paint on them after they are installed? Mind if I ask where you purchased the weather stripping? My 5 Ton would be really happy with new rubber...

Those are some really nice additions Simp!

68 years new... Hello all from the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.

Rolls Canardly, R E A L L Y, no bs on the being careful with the hand crank because M-37Bruce is definitely right about it! You can end up with a broken hand or arm... You "sneak up on it" rolling gently until you feel the compression stroke - then a brisk push should make it fire. Everything...

M928A1....to scrap or not to scrap...that is the question.

Definitely a very nice barn to store your trucks in... Not a lot of working room around them - but that wasn't the purpose it was built for - right? I read all four pages here and was hoping as I got toward the end that we might learn what happened. Family first, but inquiring minds want to know.

Woke up to Orange Sun, Raining Ash & No Power

So.... We all know that cold showers are no fun. We also know that a water heater draws a lot of current... With all the stuff you have around the farm - is there any chance you have an old plastic drum that could be lifted higher than the bathroom window? With a hose connected to it, you...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

    VERY nice looking!

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

8madjack , Not sure what to say on the water quenching other than we did it for a lot of years - and I never saw a weld break on those modified torque rods. Maybe it is the kind of rods they used. Both were old "grizzled" welders with years of experience and IMO were extremely good at what...

    Trucklite Headlight

Bummer on Trucklite. I guess they are like a lot of other companies. Release a new version and then abandon the old. :-( They definitely aren't the only ones that do that. Yeah, I agree. It might be fun to read about other people doing stuff like my "horn under the bridge" adventure.

    Trucklite Headlight

I'm with you... For some reason just around dusk - when we are hardest to see - but with the lights on gives these trucks almost a mystical glow. I thought maybe it was just me :) Another thing I like a lot in my industrial neighborhood is the recently built bridge that I drive under. Just...

    Trucklite Headlight

Wonder if the flickering could be a grounding issue? Good connection - bright, bump, bump, bad connection - dim. Maybe?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Opinions are like some parts that all of us have... Long ago in the dark ages, when we walked up hill in the snow to work (both ways - uphill to home and work!) I worked for a company that built powerlines in swamps and other "not nice" places. More than 95% of their equipment was World War II...

Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

Absolutely! Sounds like a really good card shark shuffling the deck... Davis Monthan here in the states houses and trains on/with the Hog. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to be on the receiving end of the HE## it would rain on your parade!
