According to the operator manual, straight gas is OK as long as it isn't aviation gas.
Lubrication in the injection pump isn't necessary, as it uses specially hardened parts in order to burn arctic Diesel that is very thin.
I'd run that G/D mix all day in mine. You'll be amazed how quickly it...
My dad was a Southern Pacific employee from 1939 to 1980.
He saw a lot of changes in railroading...
I remember seeing those Army railcars last time I was in Kingman, too.
Ah, the G749 GMC Hydramatic.
70 years on, there is still the argument around either ATF or OE-10 in it.
I always like the water-cooled aspect of it, BTW.
That fan eats up at least 5 HP, and your 25A 28V generator = 700 Watts , figuring 740 W/HP.
So at least 6hp are lost, not counting the water pump.
We are probably lucky to get 50HP at the wheels, what with the friction and hysteresis of the drive train. Just that 300 deg F transfer case has...
I ran a tandem axle 5th wheel dolly with duals on stock 5-ton wheels to pull a big water tanker (5K gal) with my M54A1. Plenty of space between the tires, and everything else.
I've seen 12.00's on a M35 with duals on stock wheels, hauling water, of all things. Didn't seem to have any...
11.00-20's are the way to go on a G742 truck, as they made single wheels for the M34 Reo and M135 GMC that track right.
Easy enuf to find. Flip those hubs & go!
Our Mercedes car came with an 8" long lugwrench. That is plenty to tighten them properly.
I've had a buffoon at Discount Tire say that can't possibly achieve the proper torque for safety.
I think HIS nuts are too tight...
Why tire shops will stall out an 1,200 ft/lb air wrench on every nut always pisses me off.
That much torque will dish out the rim holes, too. Untrained kids is what I've seen.
All you need on a Budd nut is 300, so a poor mook can take off a flat on the road with hand tools.
There was a time when I owned 4 Champs, one that ran. It had the usual broken ring gear (crown wheel in Brit English).
The other 3 were essentially parts widows, but all of them had bad gears. One of them looked like it was dipped in a big tank of mixed species poop and water, then left to...
