The fuel control was stuck in the full fuel position when you pushed the shut down cable in and went for the start so when the motor fired up it stayed stuck and did not return to the 4 o clock position or idle. You got lucky that the shut down cable was able to pull it back to shut down and the...
The master cylinder boot can hold a lot of fluid and not drip.
If one decides to change out to Dot 3 you need to blow out all the brake lines with air before you hook up the new wheel cylinders. This can be done with the power bleeder that will be used to bleed the brakes before you load the...
There also was a MWO to disconnect the master cylinder vent from the fuel tank / road draft tube if it has not been done already.
I agree you should pull drums and pull back the rubber on the wheel cylinders and R&R if needed. With the age of most of the trucks I have worked on if I don't...
They come out air up real close to what a springer seat is when you sit on the springer.
On the air ride you can use the yellow latch to raise or lower the seat about one and a half inches when it is aired up. So with the latch latched and the seat aired up it is around 13 inches to the base...
I also when having to canister off and doing the filter replacement take a sharp tool and clean out the square where the square washer fits. Some seem to get a poor fit after a long time.
Yea the NAPA final fuel filter should be changed out and NAPA# 33540 used so as not to use the same in both secondary and final. 10 micron stepped down to 6 micron.
Yep that's why I love 809 series. The 939 series is a fine truck but!! As 98G posted the first thing to check is the glad hand. That info needs to be a sticky if it is not already. No thread just the facts mam as Joe Friday would say.
Good thing you found it. It has been awhile since I went over the air system on a 939 series. The front glad hand has to have an open vent but it also has a check valve. Air can go into the front glad hand when it is being towed but not come out when the brake peddle in the truck is being use...
Yea have to agree but the glad hand does not do the quick release of a air brake system. It has to exhaust fast so as to release the front and rear brakes. Thought the front had a quick release and so did the back. That how it was on my civi dump truck
Yea I have a gutted injector but also found what they say was the Military compression tester for the Deuce from Bbay but the box and nothing on it has a NSN #. Sounds like you know you have two ways to go. On your mark get set go.
