I think trying to get the 395s balanced is a hopeless endeavor especially over the thanksgiving weekend. Army never did, Stewart & Stevenson never did either.
YES!!!! Inter (between) Axle Differential. All modern 18 wheelers have it and a pneumatic lockout on the dash to control it. MTV has it but engagement is automatic.
You are correct. Mode actuates a solenoid which engages the interaxle differential lock.
OK, not clear on a few things, do you have up and down motion on your pinion exiting the rear of the center differential?
Were your U joints out of phase on the rear rear driveshaft?
Option if center pumpkin is crapping out: limp to Many, Louisiana to MTP drivetrain and leave the truck there for repairs. Get a rental car at nearby Ft Polk. Drive to Houston, fly home then come back when repaired.
GP has not sold any turbocharged HMMWVs yet. The certain id for 6.2 vs 6.5 is the oil pump drive clamp in the rear engine valley, drivers side is 6.2, passenger side 6.5.
I was thinking Ryder bob tail truck. To get a 923/dolly/van semitrailer combination to where the commercial vehicle enforcement boys leave you alone will be a huge chore.
The issue with just about all military van trailers is that they are spring ride. Your possessions will be beaten to death. I have a 129 and it's dock height at the rear door, making for difficult loading. Ryder trucks would be my suggestion.
Try this for your upshifts: Just let off the throttle enough to remove power, then shift. Seems better than coming completely of the throttle like a manual.
An option is to remove the ramps and spacer and mount the stock Kompensator to the frame, and swap the plate to a 2" Holland. There is a old thread here on the p/n of the plate (available new).
