What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

The government standardized on the gear oil for logistical reasons (so I've read), but IIRC Spicer recommended a 50 wt gear train oil for that transmission and guys have had good performance using that type of oil instead. Someday I'll put in some Lucas or Schaeffers 50 wt geartrain oil for...

Davit crane mods for an M813 / A1 with 16.00R20s

The butcher truck that would come out to butcher our cattle had a similar setup to what I think you're talking about. It swung out from against the back door of the refer cargo box. It was strong enough to lift a 2000 lb bull (minus the guts)

Davit crane mods for an M813 / A1 with 16.00R20s

Here is a video of the first test of the modified tire crane. I put on my sexy steel pot helmet in case something snapped overhead, but everything went fine and there were no hang ups or hesitations with any of the equipment. Tire crane in motion

    Superthermal's M813 Build, THE BOT

I was surprised at how big the rust flakes can get. I found some that came from the reservoir tank and got lodged in the small hose going to the oil cooler that were just as wide as the hose ID! This was one of the lesser flakes

    Questions about Title Transfer

If you don't mind sharing, what did AM General provide? If it's a helpful document that could help others with the same problem, it would be worth uploading.

    Questions about Title Transfer

Follow this Link that will eventually take you to the NHTSA site where they have published their interpretation that AM General has designed its vehicles for road use. Being a 1970 is your truck a Kaiser Jeep? The second part is quite tricky because licensing agents think they need to see a...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I remember reading that they pop off and relieve pressure after a certain amount of pressure has built up. So I imagine any pressure below that would be retained.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Today I grabbed a stamp set and transferred some data over to the tag on the level wind since it took the place of the plate that held that info. It's not as nice as the factory stuff but good enough for the girls I date.

Davit crane mods for an M813 / A1 with 16.00R20s

Oh, you betcha. I haven't contributed much lately so it's about time to throw out another thread. It's reassuring having a way to offload the spare and I'm hoping I never have to change a tire.

Davit crane mods for an M813 / A1 with 16.00R20s

The last detail besides grip tape on the ammo can. This piece with a strap locks the stowed mast to the lower mast to eliminate any wobbling fore and aft.

Davit crane mods for an M813 / A1 with 16.00R20s

The pair of Beachwood Canvas chain covers arrived today so one went on the hold down chain over the tire and the second one I put on the lower chain since it wouldn't fit over the hook of the chain that lifts the tire. Here is a funny picture I should've added before. I've been having...

Davit crane mods for an M813 / A1 with 16.00R20s

A good sized ammo can got bolted to the crane to store accessories and tools and stuff. I'm planning to add grip tape to the lid so it can double as a step stool to get up high enough to crank on the boat winch. I had to drill two new holes closer inboard on that plate to get the ammo can far...
