I have noticed a fuel leak 1-2 drops per minute even when the generator is off from the following part. (Circled in photo)
I am not sure what this is, photo attached - it does not seem to be anything I can tighten up so looking for advice about how I might fix this or what to look at.
thanks...
While Peter was out at the farm this weekend he suggested we open up my A11 and check it out and see if it needed to be rebuilt. To be fair my generator was producing power fine at this point so this was preventative maintenance to ensure it does not fail when I need it; it turned out to be a...
She's alive, SHES ALIVEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Peter worked a miracle rebuilding that s9 in no time flat and now the generator is reliably starting.
For anyone who may need to do this in the future, my S9, has 3 mechanical switches in side and the switch that connects to the starter was ordered from...
Hey Ray,
The generator has been a beast until this issue. I worked with Pete today who I bought my remote start kit from and isolated the issue. The S9 speed switch has a bad switch in it. When I unthreaded the screw on connector on s9 on the speed switch and jumper A and B as mentioned by...
I have a MEP005 generator and am the least technical/mechinical person I know so hoping someone can give me some easy pointers to figure out what's wrong.
When I use the 3 position starter switch and push it up to start, its not starting, its not even turning over, I do hear the fuel pump...
If I could get my generator to start with a flip switch or button I mount to the wall by the interlock that would be pretty nice. I saw a few people do something like that with https://greenmountaingenerators.com/product/mep004a-mep005a-mep006a-auto-remote-starter-kit/
I read the install manual...
I wanted to have a much more automated solution than I do but I ran into an issue with the power company to be "legal". And by leal I mean for them to sign off, nothing at all with code. I ordered a transfer switch but to install it the power company required I move my meeter to a meeter rack...
I finally have my mep-005a hooked to my house and have noticed some frequency swing with load.
When I fire the generator up I adjust the throttle until im running 60.5 hertz and its rock solid - I have checked it with a multimeter and the gauge is accurate.
What I have noticed is when...
I am looking to keep about 200 gallons of diesel fuel for my mep-005a. Can anyone give pointers of what they use and what I should watch out for?
I was thinking about using 4 - 55 gallon drums with 50 gallons in each along with fuel stabilizer. I am however a bit worried about whatever may...
When I move the dial to L1-L0 or L3-L0 the AC Amperes gauge show 50 amps on either selection. The generator was loaded to 12kw (from a a427a load bank) at 239volts. That is a total of 50amps not 50amps per leg so i think the gauge at l1 or l3 is showing my total usage not usage per leg -...
You guys are spot on. When i turn to L1, L2, L3 the amps gauge jumps into action! Does not really matter which of the positions i use as its converted to 1 phase all positions read the total amp usage. Totally had no idea thats what that means or even that I could turn that dial so very...
Hey Ray,
Photos of both gauges are below. I have not tested the gage with a MM but i should have connectivity across the posts, ill test that later today.
I did order a new gauge, it was only $25 on an identical NOS gage so I am willing to risk that.
Here is a link to what i ordered... The...
The conversion was done by the guy I got the generator from so I am not sure - i ordered a NOS gage today so ill swap it out when it gets here and see if i can get it working. Thanks!
My mep-005a has been converted to single phase and my A.C. Amperes gauge is not working. Can someone confirm if this gauge will work when converted to single phase? I have read both that it will and it will not.
I found a replacement gauge but before i order it i just want to be sure it should...
FYI - i sorted the issue today. I started taking the load bank apart and right before i pulled the fans i found the two that were not spinning up were touching the fan shroud. I slightly bent the shroud so it was not touching and after that the load bank powered up and I am back to testing my...
I have an a427a load bank im having issues with an hope someone can give me some pointers of what to check next to get it running again.
First the load bank was connected to an mep-005a which has been converted to single phase and the load bank was configured for single phase per the TM. I have...
This would be my idea setup but the 200 amp transfer panels have a max of 125amp input from the generator.
I might try something like this, i need to read more about it -...
