My Search-Fu is not working tonight - Need info about 6.5 Turbo install.

The 6.2L gave up the farm and I got a screaming deal on a 6.5L w/ side mounted turbo. The old engine is out. New engine is mounted to the transmission and motor mounts. Flex plate is bolted up. I know there is a thread on all the "little" things like having to modify my rear battery tray...

    MEP-016A - Oil Question

What would be a good modern oil to run in this genset? Also, what oil filter and air filter would work for this unit? If I recall, the lub order called for a straight 30w oil. Thanks in advance.

    Buckmaw's Fort Hood - M1009 Expedition

Yesterday, me and a friend were riding around the Killeen area looking for a old trailer. We actually found one, but that's another story. While riding around, we ended up on the south side of the Fort Hood reservation. The area is not fenced or posted. The area looks to be used like BLM...

    Heavy Vibrations at idle...

Started last week or that when I noticed it. When you give it fuel, the vibration seems to subside or is not noticeable. The 1009 has 78,000 on the clock. I'm betting its the harmonic balancer but I wanted to get yalls opinion. What should I look for to see if the balancer is bad?

    Front spring swap question...

I have read when doing the "poor mans" 4 inch lift, in addition to the shackle flip, you need to install a set of M1009 rear springs on the front axle. The question I have is do the have to be CUCV rear springs? Can they be the rear springs out of a civy blazer?

GP Controller Card Bypass - What went wrong?

Had some time yesterday afternoon and installed a momentary switch and a light. I cut the wire going to the GP Controller Card and ran that to the switch. You can see what I did in the sch. This morning it was about 27F out. I turned the key on like normal. Pressed the button, the blue...

Smittybilt G.E.A.R. Seatcovers in the M1009

The wife unit got me a set for Christmas. I had been drooling over them for a while. Now to start filling up pouches and strapping crap on. We took the truck for a ride on the beach Friday. Here is the obligatory "I love my truck" photo... Here are the colors the covers come in.

Catastrophic failure of passenger side alternator mounting assy...

On the way back from the coast today, Maggie gave me a scare... Driving along I hear a "whap, whap, whap" then the sound of hardware hitting the blacktop. I see the rather long bolt fall out of the truck onto the ground so I walk back and get it. Turns out this bolt is the pivot bolt for the...

    CUCV M1009 Media Center

I am really enjoying my M1009 and thanks to the guys at the Lone Star Military Vehicle Preservation Association, I have had a chance to let others enjoy it also. While I enjoy the moan of the 6.2 under the hood, I felt it was time to get some of my E-lec-tronic doohickies in the truck. I did...

GPR109 installed, GP controller card hot

This morning after starting the motor, I was looking under the hood and noticed the stock GPR post moving about a 1/4 inch every time it energized during the afterglow cycle. I figured it was time to change it. After diving into the FAQ, I went to NAPA and purchased a GPR109 and installed it...

    M1009 wheel question

Did GM make a steel, 16 inch wheel that would fit the Hub Centric setup on the M1009? The reason I ask is it is almost impossible to find used 15" tires these days. I can get 285-75-16's (33's) all day long for rock bottom prices. It would be worth it to me to switch to a 16" steel wheel.
