    New in-tank fuel pump

    A thousand thanks. Ordering today.

    New in-tank fuel pump

I pulled my in-tank pump and tested it on the bench...sticking and stopping, does not run for more than a second or two. Tried the tap-tap approach with a wee hammer...no joy. Sometime back I installed an in-line pump atop the tank, but for some reason it would not lift. There are replacement...

    Died w/decreasing idle

Thanks! Have never done anything electrical with the truck, save batteries stuff. I shall check that first thing tamale. It's tamale. ~28v when hot in the plug is used with a ground to the batteries. Time to see if I can follow the ground. Might be expeditious to simply clip the ground...

Fuel Tank / Fuel Pump Mounting Issue

That's what is on mine...just changed the screws to ss yesterday.

    Died w/decreasing idle

Pulled the in-tank again; tank bottom is clean and relatively shiny; whitish crud starts about 6" up the sides. Got the Facet pump primed and pumping from a can of fuel and was able to bleed through the secondary filters; had significant return flow to the tank. Re-connected it to the in-tank...

    Died w/decreasing idle

Sarge, I have been thinking about that, but I certainly would like to be able to figure out why I am not seeing 24 volts in the plug for the in-tank p;ump. I'm thinking about pressuring up the tank, but am uncertain as to how much pressure it will sustain. Hate to pop a leak!

    Died w/decreasing idle

I have yet to try the Facet pump with filled intake tubing. The thought of having to go into the hydraulic head is less than comforting, as my expertise is less than robust, shall we say, and my current physical setup is less than ideal for working under the hood. I'd really like to resolve...

    Died w/decreasing idle

I found external pump info in another thread and followed it up, but it seems better to stay in this thread since I started it. The following is a summary of where I am to date. The Facet 41050 pump I hooked up has 3/8 npt fittings and it was easy to find compression fittings that enabled me...

    24v inline fuel pump

The Facet 41050 pump I put on has 3/8 npt fittings and it ws easy to find compression fittings that enabled me to put it in line. Getting the tubing fit between the tank fitting and the pump took the most time. I mounted the pjump to a piece of plywood with a strip of foam epoxied to the...

    24v inline fuel pump

Yet another useful thread! I note on the pics you provided earlier that the pump wires appear to feed into the original plug. Guessing you put pin connectors on the wires and simply plugged 'em in. I like that idea because it conserves the plug, but how did you determine which wire went into...

    MEP 003a clacking

How might I do this...just skip the prime step in the start sequence? I see no shutoff in the fuel line. Wouldn't turning it over without fuel necessitate a subsequent bleed of the fuel system?

    MEP 003a clacking

Again, thanks. This sounds like a plan. The 003 has a pair of mounts on each side; all are shipshape and tight; nothing under the bell housing that could account for anything. TM5-6115-585-24P, Figure 27 shows 4 pairs of bolts; I can see only 4-5 bolts, and they appear to be very clean and...

    MEP 003a clacking

Gentlemen, A thousand thanks/vielen dankes for the responses. I fired it up a couple of minutes ago and held the start switch for 15-20 seconds to ensure the engine would continue to run. Again, only a bit of smoke from the near exhaust on startup; fan end did the usual smoke on startup and...

    MEP 003a clacking

The set had not been run in a couple of months. Fuel is fresh; tank is clean. It had been run at least monthly since I got it years back. It has ~120 hrs on it...Tier 2 re-set in ~'07. New batteries went it today and I started it. Noted no smoke from the near exhaust on startup. Smoke...

    Fuel pump and NOCO 2x2

1-I might be in need of an in-tank fuel pump...TBD. I cannot hear it running, so I will pull it this week to get a look at it. I find only one used Parker 1c20-10 available, so I'd like to know if anyone has installed a Facet pump...https://www.facet-purolator.com/dura-lift/... instead? This...

Decent call. I assumed it was running when it started initially. Thanks.

I am inclined to agree re filters and life. Been trying to avoid wet stack with higher-rmp finishes. Thanks.

    Died w/decreasing idle

The '73 M35A2C has been distressingly idle the last few years...many more hours at rest than driving. I typically fire it up and run it for an hour or two on a weekly to bi-weekly basis. Occasional it gets to 3-4 weeks. Replaced the batteries w/in the last two years and have been running it...
