    Coolant acidity

Houdel and Ted0 pretty much nailed this. To take it to a slightly higher level... For perspective, lime juice has a pH of ~2.2; Coca Cola is ~2.3, distilled vinegar [5%] is ~2.4, Bud Light is ~4.3, cider vinegar is 4.5-5, municipal tap water typically is between 8.5 and 9.5 [to protect the...

    Jump start the USN MWB

DayBreak started a recent [12 Apr], and quite interesting, thread in the Aux. Eqpt. forum that got me wondering. I sometimes need to start the whaleboat on the trailer, which, to date, has been living right behind the deuce. This has been a pita...charging/hauling/lifting batteries, and...

    Sometime charges, sometimes not.

Just an echo of the second part of post#18...my meter invariably climbs, slowly, to indicate charging over an hour or so of running.

    Rickenbacker AFB??

Is anyone in the vicinity of Rickenbacker? I could use a remote pair of eyes and a tape measure during the next couple of weeks. bill

    Army Boats

There are still some of these around...USN motor whaleboats. Last ones I saw being released from the military were in ~'09 from Guam...GL listings. They went for 3-4K each w/o trailers...nice, low-hour MK12s. If you are interested, there are a few fora around: a Yahoo interest group [I...

    Wright-Patterson inspection request

I need an inspection done at WPAFB. If anyone is going to preview anything there, I'd appreciate it if they could take a look at it. PS Don't let my wife know!

    Value of an M35A2

As noted earlier, it's in the eye of the beholder. I'm maybe 3.5K in mine...~1300 purchase, 1500 for recovery and laying on of hands, the rest for fuel/fluids/parts/tires/batteries. I couldn't buy a used 1-ton w/200K miles for that, and if I could, no one would wave/smile/salute/etc. where...

    Runaway multifuel 6/20/14

Interesting questions. Regarding CO2 delivery, at 3600 rpm air flow in would be about 8.33 cubic feet per second, so this would appear to be the maximum rate that CO2 would have do discharge from a container. A 5-lb cylinder contains about 44 cuft of CO2; venting at 8.33 cfs would empty the...

    Yet another interesting thing...or two!

Sometime back I wired from the 003 into a box mounted onto the frame of my scroll saw, which wants 6a per leg. At the 003 load terminals L0=green, L1=white, L2=black, L3=red. Cord wiring from the genset is into a slow HACR 10-a breaker, out the breaker to the SqD start switch, back down to the...

Beer keg fuel tank for the 003?

http://scrapeboatstella-r.blogspot.com/#!/2014/03/fuel-tank-conversion.html Found this the other day. Has some useful info and a parts sourcs. His keg is substantially older than mine...drank Heileman Old Style and Special Export in the mid 70's while living in Iowa.

Beer keg fuel tank for the 003?

Re a keg source, try to find someone with rental properties, especially in a college/university town. The fellow I got mine from said he had as many as 5-6 at one time. It seems that some students just bolt at the end of school and leave all sorts of stuff behind that they have not been able...

Beer keg fuel tank for the 003?

I just aquired a cylindrical 15.5-gal beer keg and am considering trying to modify, mount and use it for for aux fuel on the M116a2. I searched using permutations of beer, keg, fuel, and tank...no joy. There HAS to be someone out there who has adapted a keg to fuel tank use with a genset. I...

DJE YOU Won't believe where I found parts

I tried the SearsPartsDirect route a few minutes ago. A plug kit for $104.97 showed up when I input 333-0107. Tried to learn via chat how many plugs were in the kit...no image or info on the page. Chat ended after I was not able to supply a model number; the chatter bailed.

    Genset Model Guide?

The quickest thing would be to look at the spec pages in the tms for generators that are to be found in the 'generators and electrical' section of the tms page. You could take a few notes and make a quick table to compare 'em.

What all MEP models do members have?

'91 PU-753M, 24 hrs since '07 tier 2 re-set. Came from a MS NG unit. Changed filters, cleaned strainer; fuel tank was pristine, as was oil. Installed batteries, replaced broken tab on glow plug line. Started first try; runs like a Swiss watch, just a bit noisier. Missing the aux fuel cap...
