    M1008 Project Fire Rescue

I Got to work on the truck some more. Got the IP out and will ship it out to get rebuilt. Can anyone tell me about this particular IP? 4267 doesn’t seem common?

    M1008 Project Fire Rescue

I took out the return valve on the IP today. Glass ball is still there. I cleaned it really well with carb cleaner and compressed air. I depressed the spring with the straw on the carb cleaner as I was spraying it. Small chunks of black stuff came out as I did this. Once it was clean I put it...

    M1008 Project Fire Rescue

I hooked up the batteries and turned the key on, no wait light...I went ahead and tried to start it and it cranked over great but wouldn’t start. I tried twice before I got the idea of taking my glow plug card out of my M1028. I swapped it out and turned the key, wait light!! I cranked it and it...

    M1008 Project Fire Rescue

Yes sir that was my 1st order of business to get everything back as originally intended. That’s what I did on my M1028 and it’s has been dead reliable.

    M1008 Project Fire Rescue

Yes it does. The PO had a button wired in for the glow plugs but had a 24v GPR so I don’t believe the glow plugs were being activated. Probably why it wouldn’t start. Hopefully I’ll know tonight if that was the problem.

    M1008 Project Fire Rescue

Can someone verify if this wire is used only on the M1010 or arctic kit? Also, there is a purple wire with stripe and solid purple wire plug that I’m not sure what it would plug into. It could be pink but seemed to be purple.

    M1008 Project Fire Rescue

Worked on the truck some more today. I removed a lot more miscellaneous wires and installed a new GPR and starter relay dog head mod. The PO had installed a push button Glow Plug switch and also a starter button. You have to have the key in the run position and then push the starter button...

    M1008 Project Fire Rescue

I worked on it some today and noticed it has a Napa ST88 GPR. I don't believe that will work. I've put the ST85 on my other trucks and the BWG S603 without issue. I'm going to do the Doghead mod and check my glow plugs after getting the wiring under control. I've got the batteries charging so...

No joke! The truck is actually really straight too... I may try and clean it up somehow but I think they took off too much for fender flares to cover..

    M1008 Project Fire Rescue

I just scored a pretty decent M1008 fire truck! It's been a while since I've posted anything but I may need some help getting this rig going! It's a wiring nightmare at the moment. I don't believe it has been converted to 12v but not 100% sure yet. I just started working on it this evening. I'm...

    M1009 needing a new engine?

They used to have these for a lot cheaper, around $900 or so. http://www.boyceequipment.com/#!engines/c18ta They must be getting harder to come by. Anyway here is another option. Get a harbor freight shop crane http://www.harborfreight.com/shop-crane-2-ton-foldable-69514.html and do the swap...
