What to look for in a M1009 CUCV?

Yeah I wouldn't know how to calibrate it and it probably wouldn't be worth the time to learn, I'll just have it done or buy a rebuilt one. I'll look into the filter numbers too, thanks. It wasn't some oil leaks, the normal ones like the knuckles and transfer case where present but the engine...

What to look for in a M1009 CUCV?

I'll search for the injector pump issues. Rebuilding it won't be an issue if it needs to be done, I should be able to rebuild it myself if I can get the parts and I can definitely remove and install it myself. What's involved in doing the lift pumps? Also what all do you have to get/replace to...

What to look for in a M1009 CUCV?

Thanks for the reply. I had heart they had both the T400 and 700R4 and the T400 was more desirable especially for towing. I won't be towing much but I want to be able to tow my RZR out to the mountains to ride, it doesn't weigh much though maybe 2200LBS for RZR, trailer, and gear. I was going...

What to look for in a M1009 CUCV?

I'm looking into M1009's and I want to know what to look for before I go to look at a couple local one's for sale. I made a huge mistake buying my Deuce and didn't know what to look for and ended up with a pile of crap that was supposed to be in great shape (engine bright does wonder's for...

    9X20 NDT's vs. 11X20 NDT's vs. 395/80/20 MVT's

Thanks, so it probably really isn't worth it to go to the 11X20's then. Looks like the 395's are going to be the way to go. My winch is somewhat operational, it has a bolt in it right now for the shear pin because the shear pin that was in it pulled the line tight and sheared off. I was also...

    9X20 NDT's vs. 11X20 NDT's vs. 395/80/20 MVT's

I'll carry them in the bed, I have a crane hoist that will mount on the side or just inside the bed I'll lift them in and out with. I posted a thread last week with pictures where I had my deuce stuck within 30 minutes of picking it up. Just because you've been lucky doesn't mean wheels and...

    9X20 NDT's vs. 11X20 NDT's vs. 395/80/20 MVT's

I off road and stuff happens. What's the problem with having multiple spares? We're only talking $600 for 2 spare wheels and the convenience of not having to change out a tire on the trail on top of already having to manhandle a heavy wheel and tire. Depending on what happens wheels can also...

    9X20 NDT's vs. 11X20 NDT's vs. 395/80/20 MVT's

It's a whole lot faster to change out the tire and wheel than it is to change the tire out on a rim, but I plan on picking up a few spare tires too down the road but for now 8 wheels and 8 tires are what I'm doing if I go with singles.

    9X20 NDT's vs. 11X20 NDT's vs. 395/80/20 MVT's

I want at least 2 spares.

    9X20 NDT's vs. 11X20 NDT's vs. 395/80/20 MVT's

There's a guy selling a set in the classifieds for $1200 on 5 ton wheels that isn't very far from me. Other than that I've found several surplus places that have them for not much more.

    9X20 NDT's vs. 11X20 NDT's vs. 395/80/20 MVT's

Yes it did, I don't want it to happen again lol.

    9X20 NDT's vs. 11X20 NDT's vs. 395/80/20 MVT's

The cheapest I've found the tires is $200 per tire for 80% tread and 8 comes to $1600 and the cheapest wheels I've found were the HEMMT converted wheels for about $300 a piece without any shipping. That comes to $4000 for 8 before any shipping or freight which will be another $500 or better.

    9X20 NDT's vs. 11X20 NDT's vs. 395/80/20 MVT's

I got my deuce and my next move after a few small thing I'm doing right now is bigger wheels and tires a locker in the front and locking hubs. I've decided on a detroit locker and AVM hubs. I'm very up in the air about tires and searching just leaves me with more questions. I can step up to...

    Loud horns

I don't know how many times you've been pulled over but it usually doesn't go like that. They have to have probable cause to open your hood and that wouldn't give them probable cause. If they did open the hood all they will see is the factory horn. The train horns will be very well hidden and...

    Loud horns

I'll be keeping the factory horn too, this will be my get out of the way horn, these things don't stop very good in this area people will pull right out in front of you all the time. I don't plan to be using in on anybody that is close that isn't in a vehicle so their hearing should be fine...

    Loud horns

I'm putting the Hornblaster P5 540 train horn kit on my deuce as soon as I pick up the DC-DC power converter from a member here. Hornblaster kits are LOUD, even the $500 kits are insanely loud. The kit can be seen here: Hornblasters Air Horn Products Catalog! Find The Perfect Train Air Horn...

Got my deuce! and got it stuck within 30 minutes of picking it up LOL

It's a 1971 Thanks. Yeah I didn't air them down because I had no way to air them back up. Does airing down the NDT's really make that big of a difference though? I plan on getting some of the shear pins, I stuck a bolt in it just to get the cable back in but I don't plan on using the winch...

Got my deuce! and got it stuck within 30 minutes of picking it up LOL

I'll try this, I plan on buying the tire inflator tool that hooks up to the trucks air. Theres no way he could have gotten to me to winch from behind, he would have had to go through about a mile of mud that theres no way that truck would make it through. He actually had a rollback there too...
