I am restoring a 1951 M43 and I have the generator up to a local shop for testing. The shop asked me to find out which pin goes to what on the generator to Regulator plug so he can bench test the unit. I have searched high and low and every schematic I found does show the 3 pin connection...
Thanks for the heads up. By the way, does anybody know what the deal is with the cost of repairing radiators or is the issue just in the Dallas area. I took the small little radiator out of the 48" CJ to get it cleansed and pressure tested. When it came back as failed the pressure test due to...
An unlimited budget would be nice but I think I will follow your lead on this and go original whenever practical. Honestly, I'd like to have a show winner but I don't fancy dropping that kind of coin on a resto only to put it in front of the Jeep Nazi's so they can pick it apart and point out...
Brian,
Thanks for the help. Usually a radiator shop will pressure test for free or a nominal fee. Not a 911 so when you get the chance give me a shout. Also found out my buddy needs a passengers seat (back frame only)
In my research I have seen where they put GPW tubs on MB frames and so on, I was wondering if they did the same with the engine's as well. Wondering if there is a way to find out from the block castings what year this GPW block is. If I can not find that info was wondering if leaving the GPW...
Thanks, The Deuce was a breeze compared to the M43. It's an old Boy Scout camp vehicle from PA. The more breakdown I do, the more problems I find. Have already had to replace the entire front cowl due to rust. The roof of the ambulance box is rusted through at both hat channels and I'm looking...
Hey Brother, good to hear from you again. I had planed on a trip up in February. I started out but only got to Tucumcari, NM. Woke up that morning at hotel with a temp of 104. After two more days in hotel decided to come home. Didn't want to get my little man sick as he was just getting over a...
Sounds good. Have some left over parts if you are in need. Also Put May 24th on your calender. It's the open house at the Military heritage museum in Nevada, TX. Big to do with several MV groups coming in. www.militaryheritagecollection.org
MDSA,
In desperate need of a front bumper for my M43. WO/W solid bumper. Have mounting hardware and gussets. Just need bumper. also need a rim for spare tire and spare tire mount 3 prong spinner. Also let me know if you have a good (tested) radiator. Buddy of mine has an M56 contact truck in...
Mac,
Believe it or not it was just north of 1,400 lbs. The final total was 35 bags at 40lbs each. I did the entire truck including undercarriage and rims. It took 3 days to blast as there was up to 7 layers of paint in some places.
Hey fellas,
My latest project is a 1942 MB found and brought home to Dallas last month from Austin. It's a bit rougher that the deuce I just finished but I couldn't pass it up for the price. In getting her home and starting the preliminary cleaning and pressure washing I have noticed a few...
Hey fellas,
It has taken almost 3 years and a lot of sweat and busted knuckles but the Deuce project is finally complete? If you remember it was smurf blue when I bought her 3 years ago. Then I decided to do a quicky latex paint over. It didn't look bad but not exactly what I had in mind...
It was a tossup between fishtail and storm 51. I have always loved the 715's and that will be my next build but for now I have a 1951 M-43 ambulance that I hope one day looks that good so Storm you got my vote this month. She's a peach...
Welcome from the DFW area. If your hubby is still considering doing the bobber job to one or both rigs. There is a guy here in my neck of the woods that does that for a living. Not that far away and a wealth of info, tips, and tricks. Let me know if you would be interested in his contact info as...
Give me a heads up a few days prior and I can shoot down for the afternoon. With my back I can't do a lot of heavy lifting but I can give you an extra set of boots on the ground and turn a wrench or two.
