Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2016 - January VOTE HERE

Hey everyone, I know my truck isn't the best or the most original but here's a little of the story, I bought this truck on December 13th 2015 so I could drive in the spring while I took my M109a3 apart and paint it. Once I got the truck I got to looking it over and seen that it really was...

    Have you named you truck?

My truck was named by my ex wife. 5 years into a blissful divorce I decide to buy an Army truck. After she finds out she calls a mutual friends wife and says "See Jill, This is the Reason we can't be together" hence the name is "the Reason" I even have it stenciled in the rock guard.

    My new M1009

I decided to stay away from sanding today because I just wasn't feeling it. I did put the dash pad in and mount one of the speakers (need more hardware and didn't feel like getting today). The center console went in nicely and mounted with the factory bracket easily. The speakers are going to...

MV of the Month January 2016

What the heck, I'll submit my new addition to the list.

    My new M1009

The interior parts are almost complete. I have decided to get the seat covers from John at JATonkas so I painted the dash trim and emblem to better match the new canvas interior. I may even try to remake the seat from canvas this spring with the same pleats and tube layout and have the group...

    My new M1009

The weather here has taken a bit of a turn and long hours of work have limited my time available for the M1009 but I'm still able to get some time in. I have the dash pad and cluster out of the truck to clean up all the frame work and the lenses for everything, I got the fire extinguisher...

    M1009 seat covers

I know this is an old thread but I would like to get a picture of the JaTonka seat covers installed. I'm up in the air on these seat covers or having the seats redone. I like the look of the canvas but would like a good fit.

    My new M1009

Nope just a few little things here and there and a nice new custom interior with "the Renegades" embroidered in the headrests and pretty it up as much as my wallet will allow. Then I'll sell it in the summer because I'll have my other truck done. Maybe I'll start driving it everyday (come...

    My new M1009

The Rear window crank... My arch enemy! :-) I have had that thing on and off the truck at least 4 times in the last few weeks. I hate doing it but now I've got it down! Today I put the reclining seat hinges on, I did the wiring for the amber light bar on the roof. I changed the speedo cable, I...

    My new M1009

I'm afraid to even say what I used! As my age goes up my steadiness drops so I couldn't use a paint marker and the nail polish trick I use on my guns eats the paint off so I did the only thing I could, I got out my box of crayons, grabbed the white one and started to mash it in the lettering. I...

    My new M1009

Thanks for the compliment. The only thing about the radio is I know nothing about the inner workings and this radio is a display only (mostly empty inside) so blasting and painting were easy because I couldn't ruin anything really. I'm still looking for a non work R-442 for the completed look.

    My new M1009

Thanks Dave, As soon as the weather turns the M109a3 starts to get the new paint and your trailer will get a 3 color treatment and the tarp. I'll be running the trailer most of the summer for parades and shows! How's your M1009 coming along? Wish I could have made it down to see your trucks when...

    My new M1009

The RT-524 is completely painted and installed in the truck. I still need to get an R-442 and mount but this is a good start. If anyone knows someone that is selling one please let me know. It needs to be physically complete but does not need to work. I'm not a ham operator and I can restore it...

    My new M1009

I think I'm going to leave her pretty stock looking. The previous owners did the 12v glow plug mod to get rid of the resistor. Other than the original stencils and going back to the 31" tires (I put the set of 33s on just for paint and winter storage) the outside is mostly done. The interior is...

    My new M1009

This is the RT-524 that was hiding under the seat of my M109a3. It was under the seat and nobody ever seen it so the look wasn't important. When I went to install it today in the M1009 I noticed you could see everything and it looked really bad! Yesterday I spent the entire day dismantling...

    My new M1009

This is the completed truck. I still had to install the tailgate handle and window outer sweep. They both went on the next day. This was 2 weeks to the day from when I bought the truck. Now I'm moving to the inside to get all the accessories installed. I may only have the truck for a few months...

    My new M1009

Here we have the 3 color is all done. I let the truck sit for an hour or so before pulling the window masks off and installing the new lights. I bought new bulbs so I didn't have to play with it for awhile but one of the new bulbs didn't work! I guess it happens. After the dry time, I installed...

    My new M1009

The first and second coat of the 383 CARC sub went on nicely. I did a few extra coats on the front end as well as the fenders and quarters to make it a little thinker to take a little more abuse from stones or other road hazards. The grill guard was a real pain to get installed by myself but it...

    My new M1009

here is a quick run down of the chase vehicle. It started as a normal used police car and I got sick of people doing 20MPH when they seen me in the rear view so I figured I'd paint it and here it is. The black out lights are 100% operational and the Shackles are mounted and usable for a tow bar...

    My new M1009

I got the second coat of primer on the truck. After the first coat I reinstalled the mirrors so they had primer where they mount and the color would be the same on the final coating. The paint is all the Gillespie coating I bought from Rapco. I used the standard mix of 4 to 1 with Zylene and it...
