    B-24 Liberator (Consolidated)

um ..okay. I just dropped and gave you 20 Marine Corps pushups. Feel free to join me ;) If anyone is at all interested in the image, just google image "VJ-62" and Dad's shot of VJ-62's P4Y-1P formation over NAS Sanford, FL will come up.

    B-24 Liberator (Consolidated)

A couple of those pictures above are actually P4Y-2's -- *very* different aircraft from a B-24 ;) But speaking of PB4Y's (later redesignated P4Y after the bombing mission was dropped) ... most people think the B-24/P4Y was extinct after WW2. Not so. The Navy and Coast Guard kept flying...

    M37 Top

FWIW, I have a repop top on my M37 and it's tight but nothing that elicits more than the usual grunts and standard profanities. No idea where mine was sourced, though -- came with the truck.

    M37 Winch

FWIW, I bought a parts truck for $1,400. Harvested all the winch/PTO parts and resold the truck (now WO/W) for $900. Spent another $350 on cable and misc repair parts (winch was kinda beat up and needed new worm gear shaft bearings and a new brake band housing). So probably roughly $1,000...

    Latest Accesory for the M37

    That's funny -- I bought the M-37 as an accessory for my M-14 ...:D

OBX Road trip! M-37 from Carova to Ocracoke, NC

Thought you guys might enjoy some pics from my recent roadtrip to the Outerbanks of North Carolina a couple of weekends ago. The truck, with its new HEI ignition, did pretty well driving NC12 from Corova to Orgeon Inlet across the bridge to Hatteras Island and then to the ferry to Ocracoke...

    M818 Alternator question

Thank you! Crash scene investigation imagery is located here. Initial investigation and eyewitness statements indicate a possibility that the M818 involved had a catastrophic "encounter" with an oxy-acetylene device and a collection of various wrenches. The investigation is ongoing and any...

    M818 Alternator question

The truck is completely disassembled (and actually looks like a crash site -- parts scattered everywhere), engine was off to the side with all wiring cut and removed, so no way to know how it was wired. The 4 batteries (Hawkers) were still in their boxes, but not wired. Assuming 24 volt...

    M818 Alternator question

so this is probably a generic big truck 12-volt alternator?

    M818 Alternator question

We have an M818 here (um, very NOT running ...) and it has an alternator on it that checks out to be outputting 14 volts and 140 amps. Is that correct or did somebody try to convert the truck to 12 volts? Thanks

    52 M37 bright yellow paint

My '63 B-1 is yellow underneath it's current coat of green paint. Hopefully someone has the gouge on this ... I've heard rumors as to why a lot of these trucks were spray bombed yellow or white, but it would be good to have an accurate answer.

    LU-4 Winch question

    Thanks!

    LU-4 Winch question

Can somebody tell me the size of the brake drum woodruff key (front end of the worm/input shaft) on the LU-4 winch? Somewhere during the rebuild, it got lost ... Thanks

    Anybody ever put a 353 detroit in a m37...

Just a thought about supportability -- If you live near a Plain Community (Amish/Mennonite/etc) you will probably have a few 2-cycle experts who will be more than able to help you keep that Green Leaker screaming for as long as you want it to. Lots of 53 and 71-series support out there, but...

    military video about the M37?

I liked the "run over by a tank" picture -- kinda what I'd like to do to my M-37 at the moment .... :(

    What’s your favorite Aviation/Airplane book?

You have that right on, Ahab -- You can not be a literary fan of aviation without reading St. Ex. The book you read is "Night Flight." The others I would highly recommend are "Wind, Sand and Stars" about flying the desert (where he crashed once) and "Flight to Arras." Bach comes close, but St...

    M817 Turn Signal issue

Searched, found no similar issues discussed: Right rear turn signal doesn't indicate/flash. All other lights function properly (right front turn indicator, both brake lights, marker lights, head lights, black out lights, etc, etc). Bulb checked good. Checked grounds and connections at rear...

    M818 TV show rental

I supplied my civvie semi for a Discovery ID shoot last year (I've worked with this particular production company before via a "Picture Car Coordinator") and got paid $600/day. I usually get $300-400/day for the smaller (pickup sized) trucks. What they'll pay probably varies by...

Took the M-37 to the 2015 ATHS National in York, PA

I'm sorry but I do not. Maybe when ATHS puts the show book out later this year.

Took the M-37 to the 2015 ATHS National in York, PA

Met up with a few other MV's at the 2015 American Truck Historical Society National Show & Convention in York, PA last weekend. 1,213 trucks in all. Not too many MVs there, but a nice variety. Besides what you see in the pictures, there was a WW1 Packard truck on inside display and a WWII...
