I have a 6.5td with a 4l80e and I am wondering where I am suppose to connect the signal wires from the tach to. I find in manuals and many google searches for the oil pump driven ones for 6.2 and 6.5na and that sensor can't be used since the turbo is in the way. Much thanks to anyone who can...
I am from CO and I have driven in 3ft of snow and more reasonable amounts for years and it does just fine. We don't have a ton of ice on the streets usually as probably your part does so it might vary in that aspect. If it is a bit slick on the road, the H/L will usually take care of that (or it...
I put a 6.5td and 4l80e in mine and although it is time consuming, it is very much worth it in my eyes. The extra power and the overdrive are great. I kept it factory correct as well and have had no problems.
No HMMWVs have intercoolers but there is a kit out there to put one on. I only had to change the drives shafts so they fit the 4L80E to transfer case (which I have the NP242) and the output from the transfer case. Since yours already has those components I don't see any reason why the drive...
I know what they're saying because they're referring to the ECV HMMWV which is an A2 with beefed up cooling and new body style, but I have an A0 with the old body style and certainly isn't an ECV and it took the 6.5td easily. The harness was the only major thing I had to change. Just to help put...
If they come with the 4L80E, then I would think they would have the harness to accompany it. It would be a bit rediculous if they took it out but you never know. The engines are interchangeable fairly easily. With my 6.5td, It went in easily and just barely fit under the body (just below the...
It has to have a rear mounted turbo to fit in the HMMWV. I can't tell you what all vehicles have that. Also if it's not set up for military you would have to make to get 24v items for it unless your HMMWV is 12v.
I upgraded my from the 6.2 with 3L80 to a 6.5TD with 4L80E. The is a considerable difference in power between those two. I do live quite high up (about 8000ft) and the turbo is much needed at that altitude. Some people have turbo charged the 6.2 but that's up to you. There wasn't a wiring...
I took the 3L80 out of my HMMWV to put the 4L80E in and am now looking to sell the 3L80 (not promoting any selling right now). The transmission has 30,000 miles on it, is in good condition, worked great just wanted the extra gear, and I am wondering what you all think would be a good asking...
Sorry for the delay. Couldn't post pis from iPad and I was away. The two attached pictures are the mounts that came in the kit. I do have the 6.5TD in mine.
I have the rest of my kit installed but for the life of me I can't figure out how the compressor mounts to its bracket. I have all the pieces, so I have been told. I have a 6.5TD in mine, is there a difference in mounts? Any pictures or advice from those of you who have done this project would...
Nf6f you are right. I had to upgrade the transfer case to the NP242 because the old one can't Handel the speed or heat. The crossmember to hold the tranny in was easy and cheap to get. I can say it was a little pain in the butt but it was worth all the effort in the end. Much nicer on the motor.
I put the 6.5TD and paired it with the 4L80E and it gets plenty of power for me and plenty of speed (as fast as the truck is really rated to go). The best part is I really had to do no modifications to put any of this in since it is all current military equipment. I use the Goodyear military...
